How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

That's unlucky..... Can your dealer not lend you a courtesy car to fill the time gap?

No, it's been ordered through a car leasing broker and they give you the "it's only ever an estimate" gumpf to exonerate themselves from having to help out in this type of situation. Luckily my employer will hire me a roller-skate for a few weeks. My current A3 goes back end of Sept.

UPDATE: The broker has been in touch with the Mazda dealership, evidently they give a 16-20 week window, 16 weeks would make Mid Sept Delivery, 20 weeks would be mid-Oct. Evidently they wont have a final date until Mazda confirm the build which could be "a while yet". Whilst this kind of things sounds a bit mickey mouse, I have to say that Audi have always been just a vague in the past. I tried to get them to chuck in a set of mud guards but no luck!

Hi all
Does anyone have a link to the owners manual in pdf? I can find the US / Canadian one but not UK specific. Many thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Good evening all!
On the way home from a lovely day on the Northumbrian coast in our sel nav awd a stone hit the windscreen, star crack then a horizontal crack 30 cms long. Just been onto Autoglass who say they haven't any local replacements and will call back tomorrow when they've tried to locate/order in a screen. Could anyone please help with the questions Autoglass asked? They said there were 3 different versions of the screen and asked about if the car had auto sensing headlights(yes?) but then went onto has it lane assist(no?) When I said it had city brake assist they said that wasn't mentioned......what I really need to know is if the city braking sensor is on the windscreen or is it based on the bumper sensors? Any help would be great to get the correct screen.
Hopefully not on back order from Japan!

Just found info on another post .... should have read the manual---- p4-110 SCBS laser is installed near the rear view mirror, that's going to confuse Autoglass..

Hi all, I'm looking at possibly ordering a CX-5 Sport Nav 175 but I'm in two minds about whether to go manual or auto. I've taken a test drive in the manual which felt fine (my current Lexus IS220d is manual also) but I was thinking about going with an auto this time around... the only trouble is that unlike a lot of the other manufacturers who are using more efficient auto systems (e.g. BMW's ZF or VAG's DSG/S-Tronic), the CX-5's auto looks as though it hits performance and economy a bit more - the performance difference being mentioned in the MSN long-term test (http://cars.uk.msn.com/reviews/mazda-cx-5-22d-sport-nav-auto-long-term-test-review).

I just wondered if anyone has driven both auto and manual with the 175 diesel and can offer some feedback on both?

Hey jy1, sorry to hear about your broken screen. The same happened to me last week, Autoglass only asked me if it was fitted with the lane departure warning system, which it is, they didn't ask for any other info. They had to order it from Mazda main store in Belgium, it arrived yesterday and they fitted it today.... Took a week to get!

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the information, Autoglass contacted me this morning and said the cx5 screen are on late backorder, tried local Mazda dealer who gave me the Mazda assist breakdown number----"We don't do glass", tried Mazda customer services who admitted that the first delivery into uk will be last week June/ first week July. Back to Autoglass who have ordered one, quoted 30 calendar days but with an option that their central ordering system will also look at European sourcing so maybe Belgium might help. I did mention the posts on another thread saying were the cx5 screens suffering from the skyactive weight shedding but the local Autoglass guy recons that its Audi screens that are thinnest.

That's a very interesting comment, "its Audi that has the thinnest" as the last screen I had that was damaged and had to be replaced was a A4 screen. And I hadn't had it long, bit surprised that it's Audi though.

It will hit the economy, but performance wise you wouldn't notice, the auto also pushes up the VED one group, and of cause the purchase price.
I was tempted with the auto as I'm getting old now, but the lack of gears put me off, had the box been 7 or 8 I would have gone with it, ZF are now designing 10 speed autos!!.

If you get the opportunity ask the fitter if the screen is still considered as part of the body strength, I know in 2001 when I last had a screen replaced that's what the fitter told me.

Thanks for that, I'm not overly concerned with the VED, really just the performance and overall behaviour of the auto. I'm just back from a trip to the US where I had a pretty terrible Chrysler 200 as a hire car - that has an anaemic 2.4L 4-pot made considerably worse by the 4-speed auto which was so erratic, I had no idea what it was going to do next. If the CX-5 auto is able to make use of the output/torque of the higher powered 2.2d without the hesitation or poor-decisions of some of the previous (admittedly older) autos I've driven, then I'll probably go with the self-shifter. I do like the manual but having sat in stop start traffic for two hours on the M6 last month, I'm not so sure I want another manual car.

Based upon your input I would venture a guess that you would be thrilled with the operation of the auto transmission. It is one of the best in the industry.

In the city it will return the same economy as a typical driver in a manual (a skilled and alert driver can eek out a little better MPG with a manual) On the highway the manual returns considerably better MPG. But the operation of the auto is very satisfying - one Car and Driver editor recently waxed "shifts as crisp as a winter breeze" (or something to that effect). And that is a good description. It is not like the autoboxes you are more familiar with.

I test drove a manual but bought an auto. I think the test comments about taking the edge off are referring to the normal characteristics of the auto box, not the outright performance. While I wouldn't argue against a 'caned' manual being faster accelerating than the auto, the auto will happily hang on to gears longer when you boot it, and you always have the option of manually dropping it down a couple of gears when the mood takes you. If you are erring towards auto generally, I don't think you will be disappointed. As ever though, search out a test drive in a 175 auto.
You pay (my estimate) 10% in fuel economy, but the auto drive suits the CUV/SUV class and there's no way I'd go back to manual for this class of car. Each to their own of course!

Strange but true, I had an aching foot after a long drive in the cx-5 - eventually I was able to put cruise control on, thank god. first time i've had that in a car. So I can understand your comments about an auto, but CC can be a godsend too.

Has anyone here had a go at fitting mudguards to the CX5 yet?

There is a pdf file somewhere on self-fitting, might be on the Mazda website, or even in this medium? looked quite straightforward, and I did consider it myself, but after so many issues with the Tomtom, Mazda kindly supplied & fitted FOC.

The rear ones actually improve the look of the car from the back as well, looks lower and meaner.
