How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Mines due about the same time.

I wouldn't feel too bad about your deal, of the 40 or so dealers I emailed only four would give any reasonable discount.
Know doubt in another year far better discounts will be available, when demand drops.

The Mazda 6 is already being discounted, so obviously its not in demand like the CX5 is, the 6 hasn't won every group test like the CX5 has, which always makes a difference in the UK when it comes to discounts.

I could easily get 5 K off another xtrail if I wanted one, up to 6K off from a broker, same with a Tiguan but not as much, both are old models now.

Fellow brit here, just ordered my CX5 Sport Nav Auto 2.2D AWD for my new company car.

Love the big spec but cant believe there was no DAB option, gutted. Would have liked a sunroof too but not the end of the world. Strange that they don't offer these things as options? quite puzzling really. I've had a string of Audi's previously where you can spend as much on the options as you can on the car.

For the DAB, I've had a look at the Pure Highway 300DI and the Alpine version but really want something built in without cluttering my new dash (and without the need for an extra external aerial; there's a good piece of kit called AutoDAB but doesn't yet support the CX5 :(

My local dealer only had the 2wd SEL in stock to demo so didnt get to try the big wheels or AWD system but hoping they don't firm up the ride too much. After an S-line Audi A3 it would have to be pretty firm for me to notice it; the Audi will rattle your fillings out on a bumpy road!

Glad to see lots of fellow brits on here. Looking forward to the CX5 (Mid Sept delivery)

Having owned BMWs for almost 10 years and had DAB for 5, I was surprised that it was not available as an option. There are some excellent DAB only stations such as Radio 6 music that I will miss in the car. I've emailed Mazda to ask when is it coming (as UK Gov't have now committed to 2015) and how will they retrofit it to pre-DAB built cars. Also being a complete petrolhead and into tuning, I've got used to asking BMW UK a technical question and getting an immediate reply on the phone or very quickly via email. Mazda UK completely clueless on all things technical. They didn't even know the mounting depths of the speakers for example and didn't know how to get the information. I asked them to speak to Mazda Japan FCOL.

With regards to the 19" wheels and AWD. Being AWD should not make any difference to ride stiffness. IMO (and I haven't a clue why some UK car mags say otherwise) but I found the 19s fine over bumps, potholes and speed ramps. The suspension in my M3 is much stiffer though.

I've just put an order in for the 175ps AWD sport nav manual and will take delivery on 1st Sep. I preferred the CX5 over the new Honda CRV and BMW X3. CX5 in sport guise is the better driver's car and has the best driving / pedal position of the 3. I managed to negotiate a substantial discount from my local dealer and am very much looking forward to owning the car, upgrading the stereo and getting a remap.

my car 147414 doesn't have it, your car is 272460 but I don't know from what chassis number the text message functionality was added...

hang on a sec... just trying a different database.....

Is it not just a question of a software update to get this functionality though?

Dad
What data base are you getting this information from, and what do the numbers mean, if anything?

Also if the cars all come on a big ship, why have we all got different delivery dates, some end of July, others September, just interested how the distribution works.

I'd imagine that to be the case but they would have a record of which versions of software are applied to which cars when they come out of the factory.

I was only jesting about the database, but that is an educated guess on your chassis number based on when you ordered compared to me and the output of cx-5's from the Hiroshima factory.

There must be a database with that info on though (yupnope).

With the european cars (UK included) a humungous ship drops them off at zebrugge where they are trans-shipped on smaller carriers to different ports around the Uk. That should account some delivery differences. Having google eathed zebbrugge port AND used shipping tracker there's only ever one ship in the dock where the Mazda's are loaded/unloaded so if you have deliveries to at least 5 ports (portbury,rosyth,2 in north of england and tilbury) in the uk there's 5 days difference If you have one shipment a day. find the uk port you car is going to arrive at. Then you can match it up with (Zebrugge) with your port deliveries. You'd see a ship come to Zebrugge from Hiroshima, tracing backwards. What isn't clear is that although you may have a build date for your car, how long is it from the build date to being shipped? As they build a large batch and ship them together. So which ship from Hiroshima is it on?

You estimated delivery date and shipping transport times will help you there.

You had me there Dad.

Another question, how do you update the "unit" with the latest software, or is it impossible, I'm still wondering if I'll get the text message function.
Or if I can update some how.

Its in the brochure as standard for the Mazda 6.

I'm hoping the dealer will do it at the first year service. Let me know if you have it already on yours. I read somewhere it was on 2014 build cx-5 's

Nice one Buzz, thanks for the comments. Let me know if you get anywhere with the DAB issue. I'm very eager to get; i'll resort to a Pure Highway 300 if I have too but really want something built in to the factory spec.

Before the CX5 came out in the UK I had contact with 'someone high up' (Mazda Europe), and said I thought DAB should be standard as should a heated windscreen (+ other things). He agreed with those two items and said they were monitoring the inclusion of DAB very closely. I think it will be coming fairly soon.

On another matter - TomTom Live not working for nearly a year with lots of parts now replaced - a team from TomTom are coming to the UK (this week most probably), and Mazda have asked them to see my car as an example of the problem(s). The dealer Principal has been very accommodating, helpful and spent much time on the problem (Grimsby)

Thanks.
It's a mystery why some cars are fine and others have problems. It isn't the place of use causing the lack of conectivity.
The dealer has been good by collecting and returning the car (+loan car and dealer is 40 miles away) when new bits and/or investigations have taken place. The annoying thing is all addresses and other related sat nav stuff is lost.

Had some bad news today, my estimated delivery date of Sept 2nd is now 11th October!!! Great as my current car goes back late Sept :o(

That's unlucky..... Can your dealer not lend you a courtesy car to fill the time gap?

Will do. I'm still waiting for Mazda UK to provide details post their initial reply to state they needed to follow up with Mazda Japan.

I'll probably be getting the BOSE audio system replaced, i.e. speakers, amp, better cabling from Car Audio Visual in Hornchurch, Essex. I'll ask what DAB options they recommend. I've also found a an Alpine CD changer (MAZA1) thay may connect to the head unit (if HU has 16 pin plug) but I do not know how the info would be displayed on the idrive (screen) as the car would probably not recognize the changer.

Great, I'd be interested to hear about all of that.
