How long for cold a/c?

I think all cars' AC units run better when at speed (better air flow to cool engine and more power going to electronics). I don't think its a 2.5 vs 2.0 thing. It's more of the strictly manual knob ac found in lower trims being cooler than the electronically controlled AC units found in higher trim Mazdas.

My thinking was that the 2.5 may have more torque at idle to turn the compressor, so it may cool a little better. Not sure though. At speed it's fine.

It's also possible her a/c is a little undercharged even though its new...will investigate more.

They will cool exactly the same unless the compressor turns at a different rpm or is a different compressor. I doubt either are true because both cabins have the same cooling requirements.

One thing that still amazes me is how little effect the compressor has on the little 2.0L engine when the clutch kicks on and off. If I open the hood I can see it engaging/disengaging and there is a small change in sound but from inside the cabin I can't even detect it.

UPDATE

Brought my car in to Mazda service, and my AC condenser was found to have a leak! They are overnighting the parts for repair, but I won't be able to pick it up until Saturday because I have work tomorrow.

They also performed an oil change, confirmed the bluetooth module needs to be replaced (no ETA on when the new module will be in), and they performed an alignment.

Fingers crossed they don't mess anything up!(nervous)

Good thing its getting fixed while under warranty period.

Good thing indeed!

UPDATE

Just got the cx5 back, repairs seem to have been successful! They found a leak on the right side seam of the condenser, so the condenser was replaced with various orings and was recharged. AC is now blowing cold. I shot my temp gun into the vents when the AC was set for 60 degrees, the temp gun said the AC was blowing at 40-43, just like another person in this thread said their AC was blowing at.

I also complained that my driver's side mirror is still vibrating after they replaced the inner bracket. Looking at the invoice, they have ordered the new exterior housing for both mirrors, the ones found on 15 & 16 models, with the turn signal on the front side of the mirror. (cabpatch)

Excellent, I'm glad they were able to fix the problem! And thanks for keeping us updated.

Thanks for the update! So low refrigerant indeed triggered the pressure sensor turning off the compressor for protection. At least it got covered under warranty and fingers crossed they didn't mess anything up!

So is it the standard practice to resolve the mirror vibrating issue by replacing original mirror housing with newer styled housing with turn signal? So the turn signal is not there for 13~14' MY?

AFAIK... all CX-5's have had turn signals on the mirrors... just a different design... don't have a pic offhand to show difference

EDIT: This thread shows difference.

Well when they first did the TSB repair back in January, they did not replace the outer housing, just the inner guts of the drivers side mirror. When I went back on Thursday for the AC issue, I told them the mirror still vibrated after their first repair. Now I got my new invoice and it says "customer stated mirror still vibrates after initial repair. Concerns verified, parts ordered "unrealized parts needed.." " and then lists the parts for the outer housings. To me this is implying they should have changed the housing at the first repair, but whoever did the ordering, did not order the outer housing - only the interior bracket.

As shown below, 13-14 have the turn signal indicator on the side - it can not be seen by oncoming cars. The 15-16 have the light on the painted portion of the housing facing oncoming cars. It also has a spoiler on the bottom to deflect wind/lessen vibration.
