How fast have you got your P5?

128 I-35 from dallas to austin.... yes it was flat ground and my brother with his camaro was pacing me...

People think that drag limitation is like a gradual slowdown, as though u will gradually approach it. When I studied aerodynamics last year, there's a point where drag and the power of the vehicle meet. (These are all in layman's terms.) Obviously, with a more powerful vehicle, you can go faster, but you are still limited by the shape of the vehicle. Point I'm tryign to make is, that once you hit the aerodynamic limit of the vehicle, it happens all of a sudden. That's why so many people think there's a governor. Take off your antenna, fold your mirrors in, put your wipers up vertical, and tape over your foglight holes and see if you get an extra 2MPH from it...

Yes I have the MP3 ecu.

Its just funny that I'm still gaining speed when BAM suddenly the RPMs drop and the car rappidly stops until I hit 130 then suddenly pushes me back as it takes off again

Sound to me that the Mazda MP3 has a govener on it.

True.

Not true. Terminal velocity is approached asymptotically--there's no point at which acceleration suddenly stops.

lol, why is ur car so slow man? It takes me about 5 seconds to get up to 40mph and then about 25-30 seconds from 40 to 100, then it takes under a min more to get up to 130.

I mean my auto shifts after I hit 100, I still have a whole gear to go from that point.

Click here:) Its alittle slow to load, you might have to watch it twice, and its kinda dark:( That was as far as I could go before the road was about to end, but you can still hear it shift at 100.

I dont know many min kinda dies down around 108mph and thats with a header and CAI!

dx proteges might have different gear ratios. when i floor it in my p5, 2nd gear runs clear to 70, then 3rd goes to i think 95, and then 4th goes till like 120.
 
My fastest is 118 mph and it just stops pushing after that. Haven't tried it with my new filter and muffler. The road im using has been getting too busy.

got my old p5 to 104 or so and it was still pulling. i let off cause all i was doing was trying to pass a civic. it took foREVER to get that speed.

in my now 3000 mile Legacy GT with auto i hit 105 easy and was cruising with one hand with gf in car. soo damn stable compared to the twitchy p5.

both speeds were hit on the exact same stretch. i ripped a taurus a new ass hole on that one. he gave me the finger after me honking at him for stopping on a green. he tried to block me at first but once i got a round it was countless bus links.

i tell you all, i dont miss the p5 one bit. bridgestone potenza re960 a/s are some pretty good tires.

yeah for awd turbo goodness.
 
Well I did this in a stock 5spd P5 on I-10

and hit about 128mph down hill coming back on the same trip. I have also gotten my '77 CJ-7 speedo to read 'Cold' it's an auto so I don't know what the RPM's were but the intergra I dusted was sure pissed. I'm guessing it was about 135 in less than a mile.
