How fast have you got your P5?

I can't belive thiers that mutch difference between atx and mtx. How long did it take you to get upto those speeds?

Dude, I don't even know. Haha, wasn't timing. I don't want to say how long it seemed to me because then I'd be giving you a totally wrong time seeing as though it'd seem like a couple of seconds to me. I wouldn't be able to try it again, that I know of because the road I last did it on became overrun by the cops and is now a tollway. It use to be wide open and no cops what so ever. Oh wait...I did do it again on one of our major highways....but I got to that speed faster due to a slight decline of the highway.

the protege5 is rev limited at 7300rpm. but there isnt a speed limiter. rednecks you were probably hitting fuel cut off, which would explain your car shutting down like that.

Well if its fuel cut off, it cuts off at 132-134 therefore governing my car at that speed. I am still accelerating when it hits. I have more power to go faster but am suddently slammed forward into the seatbelt every single time.

Its not like I just peak out and can't go any faster. I can go faster but the car just simply shuts down until I get below 130 then restarts. When it happens I'm not even close to red line or the rev limiter.

as you get to the drag limitation of the car it takes exponentialy more power to continue accelerating. as you get more mods and more power, you can go faster, but there is an exponential limit to how much power you need to go another mph faster. the cars have no governer, BUT the cruise control will not work over 100.

It's true it takes a lot more power to go faster, but not exponentially more. The formula in your link shows that power varies with the cube of velocity--v^3 is a lot better than e^v!

Redneck's photo shows 130mph @ 5850rpm. In order for him to hit the rev limiter at 7300rpm, he would have to be going

130mph * 7300rpm / 5850rpm = 162mph!

I bet ur car is haunted so thats why when it gets around 132-134 it shuts down, thats the only explanation i can give cuz surly it couldn't be the governor slowing down your car at high speed...... yup, definitely not the governor must be a ghost, so who u gona call? That's exactly how my car acts. It ticks me off 'cause I know I can go faster. I love math so maybe I should do some for my car to see how fast I can go.

Does the MP3 have a govenor on it? If so does rednecks ran becaue of the ecu.

I got up to 118 for about 10 seconds. No reason to go that fast. That's 'getting cuffed and stuffed in the back of the cruiser' speed around here lol. Granted, I know folks who do that on a weekly basis...but it's still not worth it lol

NO seriously man my 02 mp5 pretty much stops pulling around 108mph! Well I take that back it still does but it sure in the hell seems like its stuggling to accelerate.

I think the fastest I've gotten my P5 up to is 90mph. I don't wanna go to jail so I try not to take it over 75-80 any more.

i've gotten my auto P5 up to 127, i could have kept going too. Turbo btw.

hmm. well i couldnt be fuel cut off. who knows dude. ive never gotten that fast so i couldnt tell you from experience, it could be governed, but ive seen a pic of a speedo at 140.
fastest ive gotten is 118 with my bone stock auto.
