How does the stock exhaust sound without a resonator (but with both cats)?

not soo much inside the cabin but from outside yes. Its not a whole lot different but i noticed it a bit.

Ok cuz im thinking of doing a side exit exhaust And am not sure whether to go from the midpipe back or the j-pipe back. (we'll see what my budget allows me to do)

Did you hear it when it got rev'd up?

what is your goal here? The performance you will gain will be minimal......at best. If your wanting the sound, thats one thing, but if your going for both sound and performance, you should either go custom CBE or get CorkSports new exhaust. CS new exhaust isn't that expensive and will net you alot more bang for your buck than removing the resonator. It sounds good also. Just my $.02. Good luck either way

Well here's the thing, Im not a fan of CBE because it is still restricted where it counts unless i spend more money and get a test pipe.

Here is my entire, actual, plan:

My goal is to increase the ID of the piping from the j-pipe back, eliminate both cats (an maybe the res, i do want more sound but not excessivley loud) Exit on the side to eliminate another 4 bends the gasses would have to otherwise flow through. This would maximize exhaust flow and reduce backpressure just enough without compromising too much acceleration. I think it would be as good, if not better than any cat-back.

Here exactly what im doing if you want to understand more:

Just after the resonator is one bend, that leads to another bend which lead to three more bends. To many bends! Now if you cut between the first two bends and remove whatever lose piping and the muffler you left with only half of you exhaust and three less bends(the res pipe forward). If you were to actually do this and look at where the pipe you cut points to (Just after the first bend, after the res pipe before the second bend), and run another foot and a half of pipe, it would exit just before the tire.

well I think you will have to compromise here. you live in SoCal i gather, so you have the most strict regulations. I understand your thoughts here but to be honest it seem like alot of work and hacking when you could buy a 3" CBE and have the option to just put the stock one back on if you need to. Hacking up the stock exhaust may leave you without any options if you have to meet CARB regs or the "sight" test. And a 3" CBE on a t25 is not going to choke the turbo out with the routing it must have on a MSP, especially if you can't go above 10psi on a stock block. Just think it through. you might want to think about an electric cut out on the stock exhaust pipe, this will give you what you need when ever you need it......at the touch of a button....

Actually, that exact thing crossed my mind so what i was thinking, is getting a pipe cut and welded with a flange that fits to the j-pipe. That way i can put the stock exhaust back on when i need to pass smog. Then I'd just have to figure out where to hang tip. If 2.5 is to big for a t25 then probably keep it tthe stock diameter then.

You know, will emissions be effected if i leave both cats and resonator where they are but still exit on the side? Im trying to keep this as cheap as i can without having to worry about failing smog.
