How Do You Know If You Blow Your Motor

I was coming home last night in the rain. I was in second gear when I hit the gas. I got to 3.2 rpm's THEN BAM I hit the worse fuel cut ever. I felt like I was going to go throw my window. I car never shut off but IT SMELLED really bad. So far I just drove it in to work Like 50 miles and I am shitting my pants thinking that I blow the motor...

What are the sign's that this might of happened...

:(  :'(

How much boost are you running? If you're at stock boost, you shouldn't be hitting the fuel cut....

Well was there any smoke or fluids coming out of the engine?

If your driving it, you didin blow your engine. Probably backfire, as your catless, and the fuel ignited in the exhaust. And its not always a fuel cut, the ECU problably cut spark, as cutting fuel would make it a lean mixture, and THEN thats when you would blow a rod.

motor

it was dark and rainy. I opened the hood but I NEVER saw a big cloud of smoke. When I was driving to my job I looked in my rear view and I couldn't tell If I saw white smoke OR rain coming off of my tire....

I hate the rain, I am going to go take a look at the car at 12:00pm and take an motor head from my job with me...:'(

You might want to get the colder copper plugs if you're running higher boost...

If you had thrown a rod, you probably wouldn't be driving...

A blown rod will be a hole in your engine block and will seize the engine totaly if run for long, like 30 seconds.. Not to mention the heads wouls likely be trashed. Hence -----> car no worky :p

If 80 is the fastest you could get the car then there is an issue to, obviously.

I was trying to get colder plugs but nobody has them...
I went to 4 different places. I have to get then online... I will do that right now... I hope It's not to late

Spoolin has them and ships them pre gapped, I think it was $16 for all 4 of mine.

DooD, you hit Spark cut. The MSP does not have a "fuel cut".

Your car cut the spark, thus not burning the fuel. The fuel was pushed out to the exhaust, and with the setup you have, it ignited, and backfired. No harm done. :D

Edited: cause I dont wanna start a flame war. I have looked into this, WITH A MSP Engineer, and it cust spark. :D

It had damn well better. I would not like to see the engine that had fuel pulled out of it when running 10 PSI!

did you call Spoolin direct or did they have a shoppen cart with the plugs.

I actualy was talking to him through the board but calling him would be best.

how commn is backfiring while running catless, and is it a problem???
This has been happening to me lately and freeking me out. Also it seems to make faint popping noises at idle sometimes

if you wake up the next morning and there's "unexplained" motor oil in your mouth.

:p sorry, i couldn't resist.

and to answer emode's question, it seems like running no cats causes backfires a little. razorp5 reports of popping and he's running no cats.

that would be cool if it was the case cause i have been so annoyed constantly thinking my car is ****** up
