How do I disable messaging ?

:
2014 CX 5 Touring AWD Bose and Tech
Unlike most in this forum I want to be LESS connected. I find the notification on screen that I have a message very annoying, I do not want to download txt messages or e-mails while driving. If I switch off screen notification I get an equally annoying voice message every time I start the engine that my screen notification is disabled. I would like NO messages at all and that the irritating voice telling me about message notification never be heard again. I must be missing something cause I cannot find a way to disable both. 2014 Touring with tech. Any help would be much appreciated.

It cannot be disabled either way - if you disable it by not allowing the pop-ups your phone will also not answer, the only way to clear this is not to connect your phone to the car, which by any means makes the headunit completely unneeded. It is also very disruptive as it overlays the backup camera and once you press "Download Later" it clears the screen. I have come to use the backup camera because the car fits just in my garage. Well.... you can imagine what a nuisance it is when another message comes in, utterly garbage and dangerous too. For if you press "Download now" your backup camera turns off altogether. I have contact Mazda about this and the answer I got is that it works as expected. I hope by golly that there is a firmware update in January or I will ask for my NAV money back and exchange this piece of garbage with something that does work properly.

I may be misunderstanding the problem, but couldn't you just delete your phone BT pairing, then when you re-pair it specify BT audio only? I have Bose no Tech, so it may be different.
