How can you tell if you have a bad BPV?

Is there a way to figure out if you have a leaking BPV without a boost gauge?? I mean are there any signs that you can feel from pressing the gas pedal? I seems that there are days the car pulls like a champ, and other days it just doesn't "feel" right. And it has nothing to do with the TMIC heatsoaking or weather temperature.

I dont know if you will be able to tell without some sort of gauge. I use a DashHawk to monitor mine. I thought it was alright it does still hold boost just not as it should. Stock I would peak at 16psi and it would leak down to 11psi with the forge i peak 18psi and hold 14-15psi.

drive your car into a pool. run it through the gears, if you see bubbles coming from the bpv than your probably leaking.

scuba gear is recommended

dont forget to make sure you have the sri because the ms cai might cause hydrolock if you do this

If your ecu is unmodified you should be holding around 15.6 PSI.. If not then you have a problem obviously. Be it a leaky bpv or one of your intercooler hose clamps isn't tightened enough. Go over those and then check boost again. If still not holding then chances are its the bpv..

When doing some logs after installing my CDFP internals I forgot to tighten the cold pipe clamp... I was only holding 11 PSI, the thing was pretty open. Of course I threw a CEL and noticed I wasn't holding the proper amount of boost (20PSI with my map) Popped the hood, checked the hoses and problem fixed.

I also had the problem with my msp pullin hard one day and not feelin right the next, but I still push the same amout of boost I always have only the gauge will go up to about 7.5 and settle back down to about 6. I got a little worried about it so I checked all my lines and hoses, all of them were right ad tight, due to the wonderful weather changes weve had in kansas, I jut assumed it was due to that..

msd dashhawk I had a sneaking suspicion mine was leaking and I got the dashawk. my psi peaks at only like 14.5 ever so yeah im a leakin

just get a forge bpv and you wont have to worry about any leaking. im getting one as soon as i get the cash flow.

I just bought a forge bpv lemme put it this way daaaYYUUMMMMMMMM. b**** holds onto boost so much better than stock. turbo spools real quick and i get to 15 psi realy quick and peaks at like 16.5 made a big difference in my car BIG

what about jsut spraying soapy water over the entire bpv to see if it leaks? wouldn't that work the same as finding a leak in your tires?

thats not how it works. it leaks in the sense that the plunger can't resist the boost and starts to let up leaking back into the recirc side.
