How can I get topend???

I like how my car pulls up until about 4000 rpm, then it just seems to die out. The only mod I have is an injen cai, I have ordered Ion's downpipe but its not here yet. What mods can I do to increase topend, its killin me.

That will defintely give you some power UP top!

and it just dies at at 4k???....sounds like your flash didn't flash...

sounds like the hesitation all over again....freeing up the exhaust should help, and maybe giving it some more boost (moderation...until you have the supporting mods or are brave) should definitely give you more kick in the upper range.
 
Boost 12 with more mods. Discreetspeed runs 13's and I just took my car to dinwittie a few days ago and ran 13.908
 
The flash made a world of difference. I know it did what it is suppose to. I think the downpipe will help a lot, but we'll see.
 
mild cams like the J-spec would help
....or get a B18C5 engine and you'll have all the top end, but no low end. You can't have the cake and eat it too....

our stock exhaust is very restrictive, and at that rpm its whats holding your car back.

I took my cat back exhaust off (loud/free) it helps the car when you redline shift but you will sacrafice torque before the turbo
 
Or buy one of these and put a bigger turbo on it

I know exactly what you're talking about gboromsp. After 4k rpm the car really dies out even with a catless dp and no resonator. Before 4k rpm the car is a beast, pull like crazy and has a lot of torque though. I've even upped the boost and it still acts the same just much better pull before 4k rpm. The problem is in the ECU and the way it's programed. At or around 4k rpm the ECU goes into open loop mode where it dumps a s*** load of fuel. You can even hear the change over if you hold the accelerator lightly and steady so the turbo whistles. As the rpm hit 4k the sound of the turbo goes away unless you add more throttle. Meaning the engine is producing less exhaust that spins the turbo at 4k and on than before 4k rpm.
