Houston we have a problem

Ok i just got my turbo xs downpipe and racepipe installed lastweek and everything was all good so to speak (NO CEL). Over the past two days i had been hearing a gargling sound from the exhaust like it was coming from under the car somewhere in the middle. Today i go full throttle on a feeder and hear a loud pop come from the engine bay, now the car accelerates extremely slow and driving 60 seems to be pushing things, the exhaust is Unsually and much, much, more louder. There is no CEL on, if i had jack stands at my apt i would check under the car to check the downpipe test pipe connection. The upper portion of the downpipe connected to the turbo appears normal. There is was no visual, leaks, cracks, debris, in the engine bay.

I don't know what the pop was, but the rattling could haev been the installer trying to use stock hardware from the midpipe to catback, and the springs are rattling - no big deal.

a pop is not good though. obviously you've got an exhaust leak of some sort.

Do you have a boost guage? Could be a boost leak somewhere. If you could get your hands on a dashhawk obd2 scanner, that would be nice.

The most logical thing to do first though, is to get under and check the pipes to make sure everything is nice and tight.

The driver seats feels like I'm sitting in a vibrating message therapy seat due to the vibration. My night has been ruined, I was going to pick up this sexy bartender and chill now I'm stuck at my place reading Elizabethan Theatre and doing a prelab.

Got the car up in the air today, The test tipe pulled apart into two separate pieces. The failure occurred where the flex joint(mesh/crimped) is connected to the flange that mates to the stock cat-back exhaust. Apparently, the test pipe was welded incorrectly. My mechanic believes the lack of hangers and torque from the motor pulled the pipe forward and ripped it free. Mark at Turbo Xs believes it was a weld issue(lack of welding on oneside of the pipe) and that the lack of hangers did not cause the failure. With the understanding that problems occur I was pleased to see Mark over at Turbo XS trying hard to resolve the matter. Kudos, to Mark for choosing to overnight the replacement and providing me with a nice credit for the inconvience. I will be adding hangers to this new pipe although it supposedly does not need them.
