House Music. Any fans here?

Now, I'm not talkin about breaks, jungle or trance. Pure House music. Funky, Disco, Deep, Tribal or tech-house. House music fans are a dying breed, our music going further underground. 'Dance' music is next best thing I get to hear on the radio. Armand van Heldon is the closest thing we have to a 'pop star', and although My My My and Hear My Name are good tracks, they don't give you that patented 'house feeling'.

Anyways, for all the true housers out there, I've discovered the next big anthem. '1000 Years' by Jupiter Ace. Downoad it, borrow it, or steal it if you have to. This is one of those tracks that sends chills up and down your spine the second time you listen to it, with vocal rhythms and a deep rolling bassline. It's got all the elements needed to implant itself in your mind and make you want to groove every time you recollect......

more of a trance fan. armin van burren is ALL i EVER listen to at all. 6 cd disk changer, all armin van burren. only 6 songs rotated through...

Gen1 - I'll have to check it out for sure. Growing up in Chicago, I grew up with the deep house stuff all around..

BTW, I was in Hamilton like 2 weeks ago..I totally forgot you were located there too...

Im a avid hard trance , hardcore, hard house, drum and bass listener. My buddy and I spin as a hobby. I do agree that the culture is going deeper underground. Out here in cali we used have a station that played all dance music and well it just went under, even a lot more stations played it back in the day with hours dedicated to quick mixes by the local popular DJs. I was loving it but it seems you have to look to the UK and europe where the culture is a lot more accepted.

Im sure you may already know but I find my myself on DigitallyImorted.com a lot more. They have a wide varierty or music and keep it fresh. check it out some time those of you that have Win media player or winamp using internet radio.

Also if you like producing your own music check out AcidDJ Its a great program to start with.

tx speed demon got me hooked on a guy named dj clie, very good house, nice beats too.

Damn, what were you doing in the Hammer? Let me know if you're ever coming up this way again. I've been to Chi town too(ever heard Angel Alanis, "Chis Revenge?"), but I couldn't get into Crobar because I was wearing shorts :P.

I spin too, although my gear has just been sitting there for over a year. 1200s with Groovemasters, Vestax PCV 275 and Ministry of Sound Dj1001 headphones. I started spinning in 95, so I have lots of old vinyl. I've been listening to house since '88, when a local club did a live-to-air on the radio, playing stuff like Jungle Brothers "I'll House You", Lil Louis "French Kiss", Richie Rich "Salsa House" etc.

Moeed, I'll try to download some Dj Clie and give it a listen. Let me know what you think if you guys find "1000 years"....

i listen to any kind of synthsized music, house, trance, jungle, d&b, just depends on my mood, I'll have to check out some of the names you guys are bringing up, its hard to find good music down here.

I like house as well, but i lean towards trance alittle more. I will check it out for sure. Djdoboy is pretty good. If you go to his website you can download some of his stuff. Usually he attaches a few of his mixes on his site for a free download. He changes them every month so you can download a different one. He mixes just for a hobby and for just the love of music. Check him out. www.djdoboy.com

Oh man, Angel Alanis kicks ass. Has he done anything recently? Between him and Olav Basoski, they've made half the good house tracks in existance.....

I downloaded this too, pretty good.

DoBoy is okay for trance, but my fave mixes are still AVB, ASOT, DJGB are far more my thing. One guy that's very quality but hard to catch unless you have a stupid DI premium membership is DJ Elusive and their "Oslo Nights" weekly mixes--not sure if they still have those on.

Count me in for deep & prog house. http://music.enry.net
I used to have the mixes that you had on there but my computer got redone and then when i went to enry.net it was down, but I'll check it out in a bit again
EDIT: works fine now, cool.

Yeah some time ago the drive crashed so I have to graft a board from a functional drive on the defective one; took time. Also, the mixes are nothing spectaculat, and I haven't had time to do one in like 6 months. I'll get to it eventually.
