HORRIBLE crunching/creeking noise from suspension on my Speed!!?!?

OK, just called my dealer now and thye have a fix for it, front and rear stabalizer bar bushings!! YAY!!! Appt. is next tuesday, I"ll let you know how it goes.. They also say they know the fix for the great dash creek and my drivers side seatbelt squeak.. I'm finally going to have a squeak/rattle free car!!! :)

Good to hear about the fix. My bushings (I believe) make the same noise as yours in -5 C going over speed bumps. Doesn't really bother me and since I'm in GA temps will be up before it starts bugging me.

Yea it all starts around -5 C for me as well and lasts longer and gets worse the colder it gets.. I'm sure you can only imagine how bad it is when its -30 C like it is here now.

I had my bushings replaced a while back. Anyway, the noise has returned-so the replacement was only a temporary fix.

haha! I was wondering how you were doing now that the cold has REALLY set in here in Alberta - it's just unnatural how cold it is!
Glad to hear they have a fix for it - hopefully when I am ready to buy it won't be an issue! Keep us updated as to whether the fix works or not, both short and long term.

I get a crunchy sound on bumps when the car is very cold in the mornings. It goes away after the first few bumps.

I have another appointment on Wed. for the front and rear stabalizer bar bushings. I'll let you know how it works out...

I have read all the info you guys have.. Thanks, and this is my first winter, and park in underground, but this week-end I was away and the temp is about -15 in Toronto, and I thought the wheels were touching the inner fender liner on the bump I hit! The noise is crazy loud, scared the crap out of me.. Im going to call my dealer tomorrow and set up an appointment...
Thanks again for all the info, and Im looking forward to your result Jester... Im so disappointed with the noises this car makes...

I live north of Boston and when the temperature drops below 20 I have the same problem. I drive a bumpy backcountry road in the morning and it sounds like what you said, the tire is hitting the inner liner. Once the car warms up it goes away. This car does not like the cold. I don't know what the problem is, I've just learned to live with it.

It has stayed near or above freezing here in the Okanagan Valley ((doughpoke ) most of the winter, but we did have a 16 day period of 10-15 below freezing. I did notice all sorts of noises, but the valley is much warmer again and I have forgotten about it (it is just really wet and dirty...black car nightmare).

I really wonder if there is a fix for this at all? How are other people’s normal Mazda 3's fairing in the winter?

I am glad I am not the only one here with the problem. Live in TO and this problem like everyone said happen when it is -5 to -10 degree C and go away after 5 minutes of driving. And like everyone else said, taking it to the dealer and trying to prove to them that is a problem is tough as my closest dealer is at least 20 minutes away. And this is the first winter with the car. I do hope there is a fix for this issue long before the 3 years warranty is up on the car.

I just bought a slight used 07. When I first drove it, temps were in the low 30's, no problems. After last night when if dropped to below 0.F. I get the crunch. Goes away after awhile. I can't believe this is such a common problem. I wonder how Mazda will respond?

I bought used 07 w/ 3,000mileage. When I first bought it. It didn't have noise. I just got back from the library now and it is very cold outside here in Champaign, IL. I was worried that suspension makes so strange sound and i tried to find the problem from internet but was pretty hard for me to find as I'm non native Eng speaker. and I feel little releived that it is because of the cold weather.
Do I need to bring it to the dealer to check out? or just live with it?

and I'm having CEL on. I bought this car last Friday and from Sat. CEL has been ON...

With this CEL and noise thing, I was worried that I might have bought the car with lots of problems or car which has accident history.

sorry about my poor english guys.
I hope they will sell MS3 in Korea as well. No Mazda official dealer in Korea. Only grey importer carries Mazda.

I noticed it too. it's cold up here in NJ and i have the creaking noise coming from the suspensions, also inside the car as if the plastics are so cold it creaks. I heard it over bumps. but as soon as the car warms up it disappears.

I dunno, thye replaced my front and rear sway bar bushings but it hasn't really been that cold here since then... I'll have to wait for it to get cold again to see if it worked...
