Hoosiers A3S05 = not so good

Were those A3S04s or A3S05s? A3S04s were notorious for prematurely cording the outer edge even on cars with good camber. Someone claimed that the problem was "fixed" mid-production, but I didn't see anything official about it. I just stopped using them as soon as the V710s were available -- I even ran a set of Victoracers in between.

It really does look like you need more front camber -- at least for those tires.

These were A3S05's...-3 degrees camber although I was running without a front swaybar, but the 450lbs front springs kept the roll down quite a bit.

Do you have a limited slip in the car yet?

Yea...I have the revised MSP LSD. It's been in there for a few monthes now. I just ran my second event on the used RS304's that I bought and it looks like I may have blistered one of my front tires. (screwy) I have about a 1 inch round section on the outer edge of the tire that has noticably less tread on it than the rest of the tire. I'm putting the front swaybar back in to try and even out the load on the front end a little. I guess I'm just a little to over aggressive with my driving and I'm destroying front tires, not from spinning them, just from loading them up really hard in the turns. I really, really need to get a pyrometer on these things to see what the heck I'm doing.

xelderx, you have RS304s? I just bought some 225/50/14 RS304s used. How do they work out for autocross use? I assumed it would be hard to get them as hot as they need to be, but they'd still work well. How are they working for you other than the outer edge?

You can mount them inside out, can't you?

They work great if you can get them hot enough. Get a co-driver to drive with you and the tires will get twice as many runs and hopefully get up to temperature for the second driver. I'll be flipping the tires on the rims next week. You can reverse them.
