hi all
quite some time ago i bought a nice hood prop kit from HERE

today i've checked the engine bay and it came to my attention that there is some serious corrosion going on at the metal sheet "tunnel" (thin part of the fender, both sides at same height/location) in which the damper is lying in when the hood is closed (red lines in the picture, about 15cm in length). the reason for that is that the damper is rubbing against the metal when the hood is beeing opened/closed, simple as that...

besides the fact that it will cost some money to get this fixed as soon as possible... did anyone every experience the same? i never heard anybody complain about this ???

i would not want to lose the kit, but if there is no solution to the problem, i must go back to my old setup and deinstall the kit : the only other option would be to cut out the part of the tunnel where the damper is rubbing, but this would be quite an amount of work (deinstalling side skirts, fender, cutting out metal, putty, paint etc bra bra)

(the pic was lend from another thread, i will make some real photos by tomorrow, my mobphone's cam wouldn't make useful photos with this awful weather atm)

Haven't noticed this on the kits I made for myself and a bunch of locals here. However, I used studs that were slightly bigger and there is no rubbing occuring.

i just made some photos, i hope you can see everything.. as you can see the damper is mainly rubbing on the sides :
