hey guys,

my buddys hunting for cars and wants to kno about the s2000, i dont kno much about them...

if anyone has any 2 cents about it feel free to chime in,

the one hes looking at is an 03 with 62K with the comptech supercharger professionally installed by comptech and tuned by them...

i guess it has 312 whp on 6psi..

which i pretty good for how light it is, but yeah i dont kno much about the s2000 so comments would be appreciated!

The 03's are very nice. The car connects the driver to the road very well. The engine is very nice if you stay in the high RPMS. Around city driving is very docile. The 04's and up feel very vague. 62k miles on an 03 and SC'ed? What is the asking price.

he wants 16000 for it, i looked up a lot of the parts that he has in it and its well over 15k in mods that hes done to it, and never seen snow or real bad weather... everythings in mint condition on it... the hood and trunk are carbon fiber but he has gunmetal volk wheels on it that make the carbon fiber actually look good, im usually not a fan of it but it flows well on this car for some reason...

but yeah he said 62K but he has a house in memphis which hes moving back into so its a lot of highway miles and hes a car enthusiast and has babied this car, i looked at it in person and it looks clean as s***, engine bay is real nicely kept... his car was sponsored by comptech i guess i saw the contract and stuff

it all is professionaly done and its on a safe tune right now which is what i usually worry about the most, so i htink hes got a good buy going personally..

are the 03's the best year?

I want one of those for my next car. They are hella fun to drive given that they are so light, I would test drive it first and make sure there are no problems. Carfax is a good idea as well. If those check out, then you cant go wrong in my oppinion. good luck

he went for a ride in it, says it pulls harder than my speed does, haha
but 312 at the wheels in a 2700 lb car would pull on me.. lol

but thanks for the opinion man

I consider the 02-03's to be more of a drivers car. 04's and up feel dull. This all coming from a Miata guy. Thats a good deal for that S2K. I would take it for sure.

62K in a honda is like 10K on any other engine, haha but yeah i feel you, he has receipts of everything done to it which is reassuring i guess

i peronsally wouldn't buy a car that was modded with that many miles....

True, you never know how much it was beaten on. S2k's are like Miatas in the sense that you can beat on them all to hell for thousands of miles and will still run like a champ.

msp2024: because at 312 whp you will s*** your pants lol
trust me, my buddy has a black one with a gt2872rs modified turbocharger that puts out 380rwhp at 17ish psi....I was literally shaking when I got out of the car, theres nothing more crazy than being in a car that weighs that little, that close to the ground, with that much power, and having the rear end slide out in mid 4th gear simply by hitting the gas lol

the main point I love about the car:
the gear ratios are PERFECT....no matter what speed you are going there is always a gear that you can drop into to get up and get moving...unlike the MSP where there is a weird spot around like 60mph where 3rd is too high and 4th is too low

but the car also has a lot of down points like the lack of storage space, and other simple little quirks that come with the territory of 'convertible coupe'

but I don't personally own one so take my points with a grain of salt lol

haha yeah i guess hes running 6 psi and with the aem ems and a good tuner u can run 10 psi safely on the stock internals and hit 350 whp? and with some internal work and like 15 psi u can easily hit 400, which i believe...

i wanna talk him into it so i can drive it! haha

Have your buddy get the car if he likes it. There are a few S2000's at the local track days (road course) that are great cars. One car has the Comptech, plus a lot of other mods, and is one heck of a track beast as well as streetable.

the SC takes care of my HUGE beef with s2ks...that they are no fun to drive unless you can just stay in it and keep the revs over 5.5-6k....really no fun at all.

and, in daily life, driving like that is not practical. the blower will really help in that department.

i'd probably only drive one with a hardtop. they can be pretty noisy with the soft top up.

other than that, if you are looking for a high perf rwd coupe, there aren't many better than a blown s2k. seriously.

I doubt you will hit 400 at 15 psi on a blower...my buddy hit 380 at 17 psi on a high performance turbo lol

but yea your point is right on haha

my buddy actually is running stock internals too, he works for a tuner shop out here (nailbyt)

not too keen on s2k, but my personal belief is don't buy someone else's project.

however, if this one was professionally done i think i could make an exception.

+1 on the hard top...makes it look better too

i had a 35r s2000 and it was a blast...for the weekends...literally u step on it and it gets sideways but none the less a very fun car, easy to mod and it makes really good power!

03 is the best year imo. still rev to 9k and it had the glass in the back which is always a good thing in the vert!

daily driver wise, obviously the 35r was not the greatest, but with the supercharger and 312 whp...

how would it be daily driving, summer. no winter.. haha
