I thought it was an MS3 :P

The rims, The rear from the side, The side paneling it looks just like and MS3 with only two doors and a sunroof.
Oh and a weaker engine.

Yeah but its probably lighter, has all wheel drive, and more torque down low with the N/A V6 as opposed to the Turbo 4. One of these R32s will have no trouble with an MS3 I'm afraid.

the wheels do look rather similar... is that what you were referring to?

all it needs is 2 more doors and it could be interesting

I quote that article and a good friend of mine who has one in mexico.
the 6.4 second time listed in the article is from a VW press release and may well be conservative

Are you saying it will be lighter than the MS3 or just lighter than the MkIV version? The MkIV was a 3400-pound porker. Hopefully the new one with the turbo-4 would be lighter but I doubt it will be lighter than an MS3.

That's not far off from the current GTI body style, it's a little more curvy, so I can't really agree that they are trying to copy the MS3. Mazda's styling also has a very "Euro" feel to it. Subie's WRX is more of a revamp.
I think it's the rims that remind ppl of the MS3, but the current GTI has similar rims as well (5 split spoke instead of a 10 spoke).

It also has a STRONGER engine, not a weaker one. Just cause the HP is lower doesn't mean it's weaker. It's a NA V6 engine with practically as much HP and torque as a MS3, no turbo lag and AWD. With a few mods, it would be a good competitor to a speed. It'd be a monster if you can turbo it.

I was about to say the same about the wheels. Otherwise it looks like all the other Golf/Rabbit/GTI models.

Oh, and the current GTI weighs about 3150lbs according to Edmunds so I bet the R32 and R36 will be in the 3400-3500lb range with the V6 and AWD.

They can keep it, I'll stick with my MS3. Not a big VW fan. And yes those rims are very similar, too similar to just be ignored.

Yawn!! Just another boring Golf.

Looks like an MS3? Wishful thinking? It looks like a Golf GTI V...

...The Golf V that came out before the MS3.
