HKS or Greddy blow off

I have been reading about the greddy type-s and about the HKS Super Sequential Blow Off Valve. I hate it when the stock blow off starts screaming at a high pitch at idle and when im driving. What looks like the better deal. If you guys have one of these, can you tell me how it sounds?
Thanks

this is basically going to be an opion response thread....ive had both and liked the ssqv better the the greddy is easier to come by used and still does the job so I'd get whichever one is cheaper...as long as you stay away from teh rfls you'll be fine...

i've used both also, i prefer the greddy typeS, its just easier to use. But i like the sound of both, they sound pretty cool, ever heard a BLITZ??? sounds totally different. Find a clip somewhere, check it out.

They are both very similar.

JDM Sam and I had identicle set ups except he had the HKS SSQQ and I had the Greddy Type S. We both had a single hardpipe, turbo-intercooler, and at stock boost levels the Type S was definately louder.

The greddy sounds like a screech followed by a loud woosh.
- If you get a 19mm outlet adapter but leave the greddy venting you will only get the pure woosh sound with no screech, but the overall sound volume is decreased. (check the link in my sig)

The HKS (with the fin SAM had in it) sounds like a chirp followed by a series of small wooshes.

Personally I like the Greddy better, but like DSM said it's all personal opinion. Both work great and are easily ajustable. The greddy is usually slightly cheaper than the HKS too.

from what I have read and understand about its design, the HKS SSQ isn't that good of a BOV, atleast not as good as it is thought to be. I would get the greddy. but again, that is just my opinion.

Totally an opinion thing here but here you go:

I think that both of those BOVs are extremely comparable to each other, it really all comes down to the sound and look you want. The Greddy gives you more of that F&F sound and whistle as the HKS SS gives you more a blow and whoosh sound. I have the Greddy and love it, the loud whistle is what i was looking for. Totally an opionin based thing. As long as you are not going for crazy boost levels either one with work alsmost exactly the same. If you are going for some crazy ass boost get the greddy type R.

i have a greddy but if i were to redo it I would use the hks. If only because it is a pull-type valve and won't leak under idle.

not on your list, but I use the Turbosmart dual port - recirc and blow off. sounds like a whip most of the time at stock boost - nearly eliminates surge without stalling. At higher boost levels it's pretty damned loud. Sorry no clips to share. Prob one of the more pricey ones out there though.

i also have the turbosmart dual port. Its not as loud as the greddy type s but sounds better than the hks in my opinion. i had heavy leakage problems though until i was told to take the vacuum off of the brake booster line. if not, your car will probably idle weird and you'll sound like the thanks giving mascot hehe

i can get a sound clip if you want.

question to DSMConvert: whats wrong with the RFL ? I almost tried to get one because i liked the sound clip on blowoffvalves.com

the hks is the best bov out there. I am speaking from purely a higher boost point of view, but I DO know that many rx-7/supra /hihg boost cars wont use anything else because the hks CANT leak. It is a pull type of valve rather than a push type susch as the greddy etc etc....

I used the hks for a while and i loved it. Kinda makes me sad that i am going with a tial now, but we will see how it goes.

Since our cars only boost to about 11-12 psi at most, i am sure either would be ok, but I am just partial towards the hks ssqv

Why do you say stay away from the rfl? (scratch)
