Hit & Run

Sadly my 3 was the victim of a hit and run last saturday night/ sunday morning. I guesstimate that the other vehicle was going between 30-40 mph due to the fact that while my car was in gear and had the ebrake on, he managed to hit it hard enough to not only push it a full car length but also bend the rear frame of the jeep that was parked in front of it. There was also a piece of my license plate missing. The brand new magnaflow system that had just been installed 2 days prior was ruined do to the exhaust pipe being creased upon impact. Luckily the damaged was otherwise restricted to cosmetic with the bumpers & grille needing replacement and the hood needing refinishing. Overall damage was est. @ 3000.00 by the insurance company, which 500.00 of will be paid by my deductible. The other driver managed to leave behind little evidence including no eye witnesses, other than a headlight cover. I researched it and found that it could have only come from a 2000-2001 Nissan Maxima. I am putting this on here in case anyone may live in or around Jacksonville, Fl and has seen one that is severely damaged on the front from about the middle to the passenger side. The sad part is that my neighborhood is not a through street so someone knows who it was but has not come forward to say. Thank you for any help that may come from this. (pissed) (sad1) (headshake

I would run through my ENTIRE neighborhood and find a nissan with a broken headlight cover and front end damage. If you dont live on a through street then the vehicle should be somewhere nearby. Hopefully they live in the neighborhood and isnt just a friend of a friend or something. You CAN be arrested for a hit and run. So try to hunt down that car!

And I hope it gets fixed soon. If it makes you feel better, my last car got hit by a school bus that left the scene! The officer caught up to him an hour or so later after he dropped off some kids and ended up gaving him only a ticket since he said that he tried to radio it in. Yeah righttttt. The only indication that I knew that it was a bus was the orangey yellow paint streak on the side and I remembered that a bus comes around the cul-de-sac every few days around the time my car got hit in front of the house. Sure enough, he had paint transfer from my car on the bus in white and a broken side marker light in front.

That other car should have your paint transfered onto their car as well, if you do find it. So look for a broken light, paint transfer and front end damage.

Good luck.

It amazes me how bastards like that can just drive off after something like. Find the car, take a baseball bat to it, then to the driver, then tell us about it.

sorry to hear that. it amazes me how people can not see a big car on the side of the road. i guess if you were drunk, had your eyes closed, and no headlights..........

I have driven around my neighborhood and other places surrounding it trying to find the butthole but no luck yet....I even rode with a friend that is a police officer all day on my day off hoping to see it either driving around or parked somewhere. Unfortunately there was no paint transfer. And you know the cops, they can't(or don't) want to do anything unless there are injuries involved. Granted there is not much they could do but maybe tell everyone to keep a look out but then Jacksonville is so big they would always be looking for someone. I hoping the retard will get ballsy and come back around the neighborhood so someone will see him. Anyhow at least some of the scratches and rock dents will be gone from the front of the car. Hopefully they will repaint the whole hood so the cat scratch will be gone also.

lol @ cat scratch.... my neighbors cat comes over whenever I get home and tries to sit on the hood or go under the car. Unfortunetly, he never tries to do that when I START the car. I'd love to use him for a speed bump.

And about the hit and run thing. Believe it or not, there are ALOT of these that happen every day. Most go without ever finding a suspect.

Just got back.

I just got back for Jax but I was driving a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo LS. I'm sorry to hear about your car Armyguy. I have been on the receiving end of this exact senerio. I just got a letter from my insurance today saying they won't pay for my car being hit by a plow this past Jan.

The people of the world today have to stop thinking that other people are responsible and not themselves.

I saw like 3-4 3 5DRs and like 30 sedans. I hope yours fairs well at the body shop.

Sincerely,

I should have been more clear. The plow was privatly owned. The driver said I must have run up the back of him. REALITY: I was next to him, saw him coming to my lane (no signal or look) I hit the brakes and he drove over the left front of my car. Cop agreed that it was his fault but couldn't state that because he didn't witness the accident. "Word vs. Word."

Last year a 18 yr old kid driving a stick rolled back about 15-20 ft (throttle wide open) and backed into my left passenger door. My fault. I had to pay for my car because no witness Told by his insurance company "You should have not been so close to our client" Told by State Farm "Sorry there is nothing we can do." "Word vs. Word"

G/D insurance company...I pay 50,000 dolars a year to them just to work and I have never been named OR sued.

Tell me who makes the $

Sorry, just some steam folks.

That's B.S., I got into 2 accidents( Not in my mazda)-I was at a red light and some guy reversed right into my passenger side but it was his fault I didnt have to pay, and the other someone hit my car well it was parked.....you should b fully covered that why you pay insurance...so if anything happens it will get fixed. And in your case as long as you have a police report they have to fix it, I dont understand why they wont fix it considering they'll probably raise your rates.

The insurance company looks on the police report for the party that was cited for the accident. If no one was cited, it is an "at fault" accident. Which means, your both at fault but you each have to pay for your own damages. It also helps to get witness information. Technicially (although not really a written rule), whoever has the best visibilty to the accident is supposed to stay behind to be the witness. Of course nowadays, no one wants to stay behind because they have places to go, people to see, etc, etc. Plus the fact that no one wants to get subpeona to court to testify. Best thing that you can do, is get the plate and vehicle description of any car and person that you noticed saw the accident and left the scene. The officer can probably use that information to put on the report later and give that person a call at a later time. It also helps to have a camera phone or cheapy little disposable camera in the glove box just in case something like this happens. Especially since people tend to change their story, move their car and/or leave the scene. Pictures are worth a thousand words, remember that.

men all of this sucks, insurances companies sucks, my mom had got into 3 car accidents in the last 3 years, and they haven't even been her fault, and the insurance doesn't want to cover her car anymore and they wont even cover my car, so i freaking call them and i said why they wouldn't cover mine, if i didn't have nothing to do with my mom, they said that as long as i lived with my mom they won't cover me, that i have to move out, now i have to find another insurance company by may 24, and they even gave my mom more than than me, that sucks so bad.

Maybe I'm just lucky because like I said I got into 2 accidents and I checked both police reports and it didnt say who was at fault...they didnt go on my insurance and the other persons insurance paid for everything.

I did have a police report but florida is a no fault state so regardless of who's fault it is my insurance company pays for my damages and then if they find the person they try to sue them for reimbursement.

Regardless I went pick up my car yesterday and not to my surprise it was not done correctly. BAD buffer swirl marks in the hood and bumpers as well as artifacts in the paint. NEW dents in the car from the shop as well as some scratches. Bumpers not aligning properly with the rest of the car. The shop claimed that they repaired the magnaflow muffler instead of replacing it(which is what they were supposed to do since you cannot repair the pipes), yet the pipe was still bent. So today I drove it all the way back out there and I am yet again in another rental for at least a week. Too bad I dont have the money to sue them since they ignored my request to fix it at the place that I wanted which is a state/federal law i believe on or the other. And they tried to throw the pos exhaust system back on the car and screw both me and the muffler guy that I had do the work.

******* people these days. Sorry for the language. That blows man. I am happy that I have yet to get into an accident (knocks on wood, HARD). I always drive like an asshole but tell my fiance "I will die before I hurt my car", which I believe to be true!
