Hill and valley top of dash

:
2016.5 Mazda CX 5 Grand Touring W/ Tech PKG
After washing my 2016.5, I was wiping off the top of the dash and felt what I can best describe as a slight bump up just to the right side of the center speaker and then just to the right of the bump it drops into a divot, if you will, then it comes back up even across for the remainder of the dash until the A pillar..

Now this may have always been there and I'm now just noticing it..

Can anyone confirm it's the same for them. With the hot days I'm now concerned about the black dash warping due to the heat. Although I park in a covered spot.

it's going to be 1 year old at the end of this month and I she just hit 7K miles..

You're feeling the dash-top "door" for the passenger air bag which lives under the padding. Perfectly normal.

Just to elaborate a bit, depending on how much harsh sun (in Portland?) the dash has been subjected to, over time you may begin to see a faint outline of the airbag door through the padding. Just keep the dash well-treated with 303 and you should be OK. My CX-5 is almost 5 years old, is garaged with 37k miles on the clock and there is no trace of the shrinkage I'm referring to.

PS: I happened to notice another post from you which stated:
I got the max my state allows 35% driver passenger front.
Front windshield - 3m crystalline 90% (virtually clear) with 99.0 UV protection and 70% inferred block
Sunroof - 3m crystalline 70% (hint of blue) - with 99.0 UV protection and 70% inferred block.

I think you may be overthinking all of this!

I giggled a little at "hot days" in Portland, Oregon. Yes I know, there's a heat wave... which is like a typical summer day here...
