One of my laptops seems to have a mind of it own sometimes... Curious to see if anyone here has experince with HiJackThis.

Kill these entries:

C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe
(unless you use Itunes a LOT)

Kill This:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - Global Startup: Acrobat Assistant.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Distillr\acrotray.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

Everything else looks OK.

Itunes was open... didn't even notice.

I do use adobe often, are there any that I should not kill in that situation?

If you use reader often, KEEP THIS:


O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

It seems like you MIGHT have version 6.0 AND 7.0. Check into that. If so, simply DELETE the 6.0 folder (uninstall would likely kill both)

I used hijack to get rid of some nasty spyware crap that I had on my computer years ago. The sad thing is you have to recognize what is good or bad and if you aren't a computer guru you could actually screw stuff up. I think the stuff that has 04 in the front you can eliminate if and only if you believe it is not needed or garbage. Sometimes you can tell suspicious crap just by reading it but is is defintely great software is used correctly.

whats wrong with the machine? Trying to optimize? there are quite a few things you can kill.

I can't explain it... has a mind of it own. Sometimes adobe just consumes the machine. I installed a new printer and even when I did not install the majority of the extra all these extra process are running.
