Higher boost with alcohol injection?

I am looking at getting a alcohol injection kit. (this is a serious thread, can i have no zoom boom answers please) Do you guys think that with the added detonation prevention, lowered intake temps, and a good tune that the engine will hold up to 12 psi?

Thanks,

Chris

I ran 13psi on a bigger turbo without meth but was also using a J&S to retard timing if there's knock. I'd say get a knocklight that will at least let you know if theres a problem. An EGT gauge would help too!

Based in what I've read its really a crapshoot with that much boost. But good tuning and intake temps would increase the likelyhood of the motor lasting longer. How much boost are you running know. I wouldn't know, but with 9psi, afc, and meth you might be quite happy. Good luck

do a search on meth injection i remember about reading about another member running 14 psi on the stock block with individual port meth injection and a t28.

i am running stock boost right now, i guess not many people have ventured into alcohol injection on this site.

I have run it for quite some time on a built engine. 75/25% mix running 12-14psi on the stock turbo. Air/fuel ratio is a conservative 11.2:1. At 12psi you are most likely running out of fuel up top. The meth will help you there. Doubling the boost on a stock fs engine can be done, but they are more than happy to blow at stock boost. Keep that in mind when you decide where to set your boost controller.

I've been running an alcohol/water (75%/25%) set-up for about 18 months, the last 13 of them tuned with the Unichip. I also have a moderate number of other performance add-onssee my signature.

On the high boost map I spike to 12.513.5 lbs. (depending on the RPM when I go WOT), and hold approximately 9.5 lbs. and typically see from 2224 degress of timing advance at redline. The A/F ratio is around 11.8 or so at redline.

On the low boost map I spike to 78 lbs., and hold about 6 lbs and see 2830 degrees of timing advance at redline. I typically use the low boost map, as the car is torquey enough on that. :)

I'm running meth injection with a Unichip untuned.

I may switch over to the high boost map every now and again, but I pretty much leave it on low, because it spikes 8.5-9 psi and holds 6.5-8 psi, and it also feels very stout like that. It will be tuned here soon, and I'll be adding my 440s to help with fuel up top.

I've been researching running Methanal Injection as well. Make sure you have the proper safeguards when you run a meth injection kit. You will need measures that lower the boost if the line gets clogged and such.

All I have is an LED hooked up to come on when the water pump does, and a low level indicator.

I have read about something a company makes that's like a fail safe for the methanol. Anyone know anything about it?

are clogged lines really any issue? i figured if i run a premix from either snow or devil's own that that should never be an issue

even if you never encounter an issue, its always nice to have peace of mind. especially if something does happen, you will not damage your engine. then you would be out alot more money...
