Hid

Hey guys my HID kit is installed. These are the most amazing lights I have ever seen. Those super whites and plasma lights don't even come close. Our light housings are clear so they make them look even better. Pics are gonna be up ASAP

Yeah I have my old name again!!! Well I got it off ebay for 460 dollars. They are amazing. Easiest install I've ever done

No way man these are the real thing. They have ballasts and everything. The light code for our low beams is H7 not 9007. Tonight I got the biggest looks from some guy. I go to UC Davis and I was coming back from the library. I go to the parking structure and there is some guy in a riced out accord(there is a lot of rice around in davis) getting in his car right next to me. I flip on my lights and they ignite. They flash for an instant and then dim, slowly getting brighter until they reach full strength. I practically light up the whole wall. He the whole time is looking down and doing something and then looks up to see them. I pull out while he is still parked and his head follows the lights until I punch the gas and deprive him of the pleasure. I swear he was staring at them like a dear in headlights and all I could think about is hell yeah what a buy.

is that the same hid system as on www.24hiper.com? i was wanting to get the hid system after i heard and saw them on the web site. BUT 460? is that how much they cost? if so i think they can keep them. i bet they look great. but what kind did you get and can you get them anywhere else online for cheaper?

Does this HID "system" have the self-adjusting, self-leveling mounts? I'm almost positive that this is required by law on any HID system, to prevent them from really blinding oncoming drivers. It's one reason that these systems often cost $2000 or more on high-end cars.

Not that you'd get hassled by cops for it or anything, I'm just curious if it is really a legal mod, or just the HID bulbs/ballast, which I think are illegal without the leveling system also.

"Compatible" I understand, but are they LEGAL? Before you assume that they are, are you sure?

Again, I'm not trying to break chops or criticize your upgrade, I think HID lights are schweet. I'm just wondering if it is truly legal to have just HID lamps WITHOUT the rest of the system.

Plus, I thought that HIDs are supposed to be aimed differently than regular lights, due to how bright they are.

They aren't legal. Beam pattern isn't the same because the 'arc' isn't in the same place as the regular bulb filament. Light emitting from the arc reflects differently off the lense housing putting it out of spec with DOT requirements. There is too much light being emitted upward towards oncoming drivers. I had this discussion a couple of years back with Sylvania on the possibility of making HID conversions. The HID bulb design doesn't allow it to be positioned properly and still be able to install it in a factory incandescent lamp housing.

Is anyone going to answer me?

IKnowURespectIt - a TRUE HID system is thousands of dollars. $460 is a good deal for the bulbs/ballasts, etc., but it's still an illegal system that will seriously blind oncoming traffic.

It doesn't blind oncoming traffic. I haven't even had brights flashed at me yet. I've looked at my car from another and I cant tell the difference between mine and most luxury cars' HIDs

From what I understand, most OEM HID systems have an auto-leveling feature to ensure that the beam is projected in a way to be the least offensive to oncoming traffic. Based on posts from other message boards, owners with aftermarket HIDs usually point their beam a little lower to manually compensate.
