HID Headlight Conversion Kits

Anyone out there have a HID bulb conversion kit? I see a ton of plug n play kits on Ebay and want to know if they work good or which brand has worked the best. I know the old adage... you get what you pay for... So.. any experience on the matter?

I've seen posts that say something about flickering lights. I don't know how a plug in play HID kit would do that. (eekdance)

I have a GoldenEye HID kit from Protege2886 from this thread http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123669425 , I believe he is doing a group buy right now. There are others such as protephile that sell on the boards too and they are all top notch stuff. You can spend a lot of money on a kit if you want all the "high end components" but really you can spend under $200 and get something that will work great and no one can tell the difference.

I would stay away from the e-bay kits because while you may luck out and have no problems they generally do not have warranties from what I understand, and even if they did I would be wary about the service you might get. Besides, I think it's better to support members of this community!

As for the flickering it could be a few things such as not wired correctly (it's plug and play but you still gotta make sure you have good grounds and connections of course) or the bulb is not seated correctly and grounding out, etc.

I have a TechOne kit that I bought off the forums from Protephile over a year ago. Awesome kit and of course, Protephile's customer service is second to none.

Stay away from Ebay. I never really trust much of their electronic stuff, and I really wouldn't touch headlights with a ten foot pole.

I have an SA Trading 8000k kit i bought from a local shop that cost me $274.95 after tax with a 3 year limited warranty. I really light the way it looks and the light pattern it gives me, i have mine aimed down as far as i can and still have a visible light pattern as to not blind other drivers and so far i have only been pulled over once for them and the officer could not prove they werent stock (i have mine installed REALLY well).

Yeah I checked out that Xenopros or whatever. DUUUUUUDE they are expensive. I bought one of those kits off of EBAY and it is totally legit. They work on the speed pretty good. They where only 45.00 +shipping. All in all about 70.00 something. I didnt have to do any rigging or anything. It took like no time to install. As for which auctions to buy from, I got mine from the auction that has US Seller in the picture next to the auction with a red border around it. If you really dont trust kits like that I would recomend Sylvania X xenon kits. They are problably the best aftermarket kit. Also Phillips makes a kit but I am not sire of the name you would have to check out there web site.

so you are saying the 70.00 dollar hid kit is all right??? how is the actual brightness of the kit? better than our standard headlights i hope... and wat color temp did you get?? 6000k, 8000k?????

I bought the hi/low kit from the vendor I talked about at the beginning of the thread.

One thing you probably won't get with these ebay sellers is support/warrranty, both of which I received of the highest caliber buying here on the forums.

i got the hi/low 6000k from xenonlink.com. I would honestly recommend the Bi-xenon kit instead. TRUST me. I ordered the kit (hi/low) originally for $150 shipped. Then the high beams wouldn't work and when the HIDs were on u could see this blue spot which was the high bulb. So i ordered the relay harness for another 10 bux and my high beams still dont work. Our lights share the same ground and power source for hi's and low's so there is something there that is messing with the lights. I just sent them an email asking if they would make good by letting me send this kit back and upgrading to the Bi-xenons. I had their 6000k kit on my Integra(9006 bulb) and it was great. No problems ever. Heavy duty ballasts and good connectors. I will let u know how their customer service is when they email me back.

BTW I think the bi-xenon kit was $164.99 so i guess after the original $150 kit and the $10 harness it makes no sense why I didnt get the Bi's in the first place!!! lol

my car came with them already installed.. its got 6000k hids but there are no brights with them.. it only has one mode, normal lights and daytime lights.. there really is no need for brights anyway cuz these lights are bright as hell, i've been yelled at by numerous drivers to turn my brights off.. its quite humerous, i will try and get a hold of the previous owner and find out what brand my lights are just for people to compare.. also i will post up some pics of them if anyone wants to see

i have a golden eye kit that cost me $200 my friend got some cheapo $50 (including shipping) kit and honestly its the same thing. the ballasts are the same the wires look alittle cheaper but you can most certainly upgrade the wires for the $150 difference. his was easier to install as well. O and ive had my kit for 14monthes now

I got mine off ebay, they work and look great and the install was a piece of cake
