HID Headlight Conversion Kits

were these direct pnp and did you have to do anything to the factory wiring harness? some cars i know you have to up grade somthing

if i remember correctly, the harness from the HID kit just had normal copper connecters and i found the positive and negative terminals on the stock wiring harness and plugged them in, then sealed them with beutel, weatherproofing stuff we use on the coax lines on cell phone towers, no water is ever getting in there

They are 10 000k, they are almost to blue but i like them

yeah they are really blue not sure if i like that or not. i am debating between the 6000K and 8000K does anyone have some pics of the 8000K that i could see i really like the look and idea of HIDs but i was always leary of those $180 kits but if you guys say they work good i'll beleive you. I just know people who spent upwards of $1000 for similar things guess they just had more money than they knew what to do with.

get the 6000k. Less of a heat up. Ive NEVER been pulled over for them but i know people with 8000k that get pulled all the time. Only police are supposed to have any type of blue lights. On top of that when u go hotter than 6000k you actually lose lighting performance and its more for looks. My boy has the 5000k and I can actually see better with his than mine, hence the reason most OEM's use that temperature. But 6000k's are just fine. Im also sayin this under the assumption that u dont wanna stand waaaaaay out from 15 thousand miles away. It all comes down to preference though. Hope this helped ya.

Sorry to butt in guys but I have a Helios 6k HID H4 on my MSP and the I think the ballast is out. I switched the bulbs and they both work fine execept when I put them on one side.

Is this a for sure way to tell that the ballast is out or can it be something else?

If found a site selling a replacement Helios ballast for $70.

ur not butting in at all...this is what we're here for. Most likely its ur ballast. Make sure ALL the connections are tight and the wires look good. If everything is good, (including your headlight fuse) then its your ballast. Also switch the ballasts and see if the good one works on both sides and the bad one doesnt. Hope this helps.

I just switched the ballast and they both are good.

I think it might be the igniter connector, when I took apart the connector there was some radiator fluid in the connetor. i'm thinking that was the cause of the problem.

Do you guys think I would be able to clean it? and how?

try sprayin it all down with electrical cleaner (available at AZ or Advanced, next to the MAF cleaner) and see how that works. make sure the wires are all the way in the connectors and didnt come out

I cleaned it with a q-tip with water and blow dryed it and it seem to have fixed it . Working fine for now.

Thanks a lot dragtillidie, I appreciate it.

One more thing. Does it matter if the highbeam bulb is in the inside or outside? Which is better for seeing?

Is it true that turning the H.I.D ligts on and right back off is bad for the ballast or something? Any more tips on getting them to last longer?

hey guys i was wondering if any of you guys know why is it that when i turn on my hids the left side seems to be dimmer than the other im running the
10K HID kit any input is greatly appreciated...

Make sure they are both adjusted evenly...otherwise it'll look like that

I got this kit off ebay, and i was on the rsx forums, and i notcied someone mentioned Xentec brand H.I.D, which is what i have. Im wondering if maybe its an actual brand, or what. Ive looked up Xentec, and they sell outside of ebay. i even searched for "fake Xentec" and i found nothing about any fakes. I did however notice a difference on the boxes and the stickers on the ballast. under Xentec in red, mines says Advanced lighting systems, the others say something shorter. And the ebay ballast have xentec in red with a black background, and the others have more like the specs written on them.

alot of "smaller" companies use what they have available or can get cheaper. they're probably both the same company, but different dates of mfg. Alot of the electronics companies do the same (think jensen). they also tend to change product recognition to boost sales. they could also have two different "looks" for internal reasons, i.e. one set is only sold on ebay and the others are only sold through their store. I can name a few "known" companies that do the same thing with their products.
