HID fogs finally installed

Hey all,

So I finally got my HID fogs installed and they look great! I had ordered HID's for both my high beams and my fogs, but ordered the wrong type for my fogs, and we were already on a roll, so just decide to re-order for my high-beams and install the fogs. It was a super easy installation. Mounted the ballasts just above the bumper with zip-ties, plug and play! I am very happy with them. They are some kinda bright! They are 4300K, so the same as my headlights, although they look a bit bluer because they are reflectors, not projectors. I forgot the LED's at my apt., so those pics and install comments will have to wait for another day. And I think I got a dud bulb because only one side works, but you get the gist. I will put up more pics from night time when I get the chance.

The ones in mine are HB4 9005 I believe. But you have to be careful as there are two types - type A and type B. These are type B and the round fog lights are type A. Check out your manual for more info.

Pic-heavy Follow Up!!!

Follow up here (sorry about the large pics - I resized but it didn't work as desired). I got a new HID kit for my high beams and finally got them installed. They are 4300K so very similar to the stock ones, although not in a projector lens.
Here's the high-beam/low-beam comparison, and another pic of the fogs.

Low Beams:

I also got a few of my LED's installed. I have yet to do the brake lights and the glove box/trunk, but here's the reverse lights and license plate lights:

And here's a pic of the interior - the pic didn't turn out that well as they are pure white and they look like they throw blue light here and they look quite dim here as well, but it gives you an idea.

If anybody is interested, I have a lead on the HID kits as well as LED's so PM me if you'd like to get some. The install is super easy and I can give anybody who wants some pointers if need be.

you're brave with those zip ties

question about having xenons in highs and fogs...are the bulbs being harmed at all by being switched on and off constantly...like in the exact case of the high beam going on, turning the fogs off, and vice versa. i know the area i live in back country-wise i switch back and forth a fair amount during night driving

Yes, I am brave with the zip-ties, but I also zip-tied the mounting holes on the bottom and on the top so they aren't going to slide out. You just can't really see them.
I head out to my parents several times per week and they live in back country as well. I have so far noticed no problems with them. It does take a few seconds (3-4) for the HID's to warm up, but if you're switching constantly, that time seems to diminish.
You'll only really have a problem with them if you are 'strobing' them. Realistically, the amount you switch isn't that quick or that often compared to strobing and so the bulbs should be just fine. As long as the bulb has warmed to it's color and you aren't strobing from cold, it will be fine. And if you do strobe from cold, it will only lessen the lifespan but not damage it. Although I do say this as my bulbs have just been installed. I may have a different story for you in a year (or more or less) but for now they're fine.
For a 'demo' on strobing, check out the video on YouTube ("HID 10,000K & 5,000K" is the exact title).
