HID Danger?

I think I remember someone saying that if you put the HID's in the Mazda 3 and they weren't there stock, then you are at danger of melting the housings or something....
Is this true?? Because I haven't really heard anyone complaining yet here on the forums about it, but it was int he back of my mind, as I am on the verge of getting a kit myself.

Also, has anyone done the HID kit AND the Daylight Demon Eyes at the same time? Are there specific kits that work together better for this??

whoever told you that just doesnt want you gettn hids, i have hids both lo and fog light, i sols the hi beam to a friend needed the money(rockon) , but no danger check mine out

There was a huge discussion about this by TheMAN. His points are right on and if you're car wasn't made to have HIDs, then you shouldn't have them.

Holy poop... that's quite the post!!!

I guess I don't mind my halogens too much....they do offer very good lighting...but that cut-off really pisses me off sometimes...The other night I couldn't see a whole pack of deer on the side of the road until I was really close to them because my lights were only illuminating their legs...I guess I just figured HID's would solve that....oh well....any way to get brighter Halogens??

You have the Mazda3 with the projectors...THEREFORE you would NOT be bothering ANYBODY...they are MADE for HID's.

You will not melt them for a number of reasons two being:
1. They are made for HID's
2. They actually burn alot cooler (only use 35Watts compared to your 55Watts)
I have never had anyone complain about me blinding them etc.

You will be amazed how much light HID's put on the road...once you try them, you will NEVER go back. My suggestion, go for a ride with a buddy that has them installed. Make up your mind then.

all projectors cut off
if you dont have the mazda3 with auto adjustable lights then your gonna need to get in under the hood and raise the projector i did that also especially with hids

Does any one know of any good brand HID bulbs that will fit my car? And what size fits the stock speed 3 fog lights?

OK... The fog lights are HB4 that I recently found out are the same as 9006's. But I want to upgrade my HID bulbs... I know some of you guys have done it... which brand and where you find them?

Been running an aftermarket HID kit in my car for six months now. I did raise the lights a bit and nobody flashes their highbeams at me. Don't know about the whole projectors are made for HIDs thing but I do know that projectors help focus the light better. Putting HIDs on a car with projectors (even if they don't auto level) is a hell of a lot better than putting them on a car with regular headlamp assemblies.

Why did you raise the aim of the lights?

I've had the Xtec 50w kit in my Mazda3 for about 2 years now and no melting issues or anything. Because the projectors in the halogen headlights are not ment for HID, they produce a good amount of light glare. Yet, you can just keep your lights aimed properly, not to the sky, and you should be good.

I raised them because they weren't casting light as far as they should. I played around with the adjustments until I was able to go out driving at night and not piss off any drivers coming towards me. Although now they aren't much higher than the stock adjustment, they do cast a lot of light and no one flashes their highbeams at me. Its still not as bad as people that have HID systems with regular halogen headlamp assemblies, the projectors focus the light a little more.
