Badass. Which motor does the 3 have?

2.3 liter Duratec
Big Boost Turbo Kit
Forged internals (Pauter Rods/Wiseco pistons)
96 Lb/hr Rochester Injectors
Front slicks/rear skinnies
16 psi of boost

that motor looks VERY promising... its very well built from all the articles I've been reading.

AWESOME work Juan!! :)

Is that in Bogot?

Hi Juan,

I know G3 does the 1/4-miles in Bogot, but is that @ Tocancip, or somewhere else?. If that was in Bogot, that's like a 2,300m altitude or something like that... how did that affect the engine/turbo set-up?, and is it true the guys from Turbotek and other shops there use huge turbos due to less available oxygen?

Congrats on your achievements and support of the Mazda community!

It is Tocancipa. To be exact, that is 2,600m altitude. Due to less barometric pressure the engine losses 38% of its power and smaller turbos have to be used on higher altitude. In Colombia they are very professional and spend a lot of time finding the right setup.

turbo query

wanted to ask a few questions regarding a similar project of my own.

Currently own a 2006 mazda 3 2.0 liter sedan, and I recently changed to forged connecting rods and pistons (rated up to 400whp) at 8.5 compression ratio. Also changed the transmission to lenntech automatics street terminator 4F27E rated up to 500whp, with all this I'm planning to boost at about 14-15psi using either gt28 or 30 garrett turbine with the stock block, my main concern is if the stock block can handle that much pressure in it? I'm assuming it will hit about 300whp with that boost setting, let me know your insights! hope to hear from the experts themselves :D
