Hey Guys, and Gals, I just ordered the Hiboost downpipe for my MSP, just wondering if anybody else out there already has one installed. If so, what was wait time like to recieve it and how did the install go? Also, did you need to buy new exhaust gaskets or just reuse the old ones? Thanks

actually 1fastmp5 had it on his car already. it gives very impressive gains in spool up time, and even better when a catless midpipe is added. the section you purchased is the j-pipe

Wow, thats cheap. Wonder how much for a 3in d/p. hmm time to contact juan.....Apex downpipe is going up for sale. $200.....

Chris

The apex downpipe is something different. This is a real downpipe whereas the Apex is more like a mid-pipe.

MSP Exhaust anatomy:

Exhaust ports in engine -> exhaust/turbo manifold -> turbo -> 's'-pipe -> 'j'-pipe -> mid-pipe (with cats) -> catback section 1 (long pipe with resonator) -> catback section 2 (shorter pipe with muffler).

Damn, I can't believe how long it took for someone to explain that. I think a lot of people don't know what each piece is. Thanks jersey_emt! I was getting ready to draw it out.

i did a write up on it with pics a while ago on thisI should have them in stock by friday

Make that a sticky... and EVERYONE must abide by it. lol
Seriously though it sucks having to explain what section of the exhaust you're talking about when there's conflicting names for each section.

How bout we just number the pipes... S pipe = #1 , J pipe = #2 etc.

Because sometimes #1 and #2 are one piece (ala iON), and sometimes #2 and #3 are one piece. We just need a sticky like you said, but with a conglomeration of illustrations and explainations of the different configurations so that the proliferation of knowledge may continue to perpetuate.

I have one installed. It took about 5 days to arrive at my door. I installed it in about 10 mins with no surprises and useing the old gaskets. The next week I went to the muffler shop and had a 2.5" mid pipe made with a hiflow cat.

REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE BUNG ON THE OLD J PIPE AND PUT IT IN THE HIBOOST PIPE. (see pic)
