hi flow cats

according to racing beat, the mp3's biggest power bottleneck lies within the two catalytic convertors. i know there are many high flow cats out there, but has anyone had any experience with the ones from tripoint? i'm not even sure they are for our cars, but can you imagine a direct bolt on from the cat to the downpipe to the midpipe to the second cat? all with increased ID? man, that would be soooo coooooool.

Here are both replacement high flow cats offered by www.wagnermotorsports.net They are direct replacements for the 1st and 2nd cats on a NA 2.0l protege. I have the second one on my car.

whoa mama!

the last time i talked to wagner, they said the second cat was in development and the first cat was close to $450. the website quoted the midpipe and high flow cat in that first pic for $330. so almost $800 later and i'll have a properly breathing engine. now i gotta track down some shorty header maker cause the only one made (by traveler) is now no longer made. best part is, i'll pass emissions in california with that setup! wait a minute... that'll be close to $1300! mind as well go turbo, huh?

I dont think the first one is 450, but i could be wrong. I know the cats themselve cost around 100$ so that might explain the cost.
Wagner said that he is working on a shorty header also.

my fault... the high flow cat/downpipe combo (first, or primary, cat) is $425 unless he's lowered the price. here's the email in its entirety:

The downpipe incorporates a metallic core high flow random technologies cat. This only replaces the first cat and a midpipe with a second highflow cat is on the way. The cost for the downpipe itself is $425, the midpipe should be around $325, and a header would be around $500. These are all tig-welded units that will bolt in. They are made of 304 stainless steel.

does he have fittings for the o2 on these...if so you could do this all without throwing a CEL. that would be cool. also, just a question that may be stupid but if you used the replacement first cat is there really a need for the second? wouldn't one cat make you clean enough to pass emissions?

no you wont throw a CEL with his mid-pipe and downpipe..with the cat's it has all the fittings

I would think so. He also has a midpipe with no cats.
