Hi everyone.
Not exactly a noob here, just haven't posted here in a while.
I have an '03 P5 that I've been enjoying as a daily driver. It's completely stock except for aftermarket stereo system.
Now that the warranty on the car is about to expire, I'm thinking of doing something I've always wanted to do to it: Turbocharge! I really like the P5, love its handling and looks, and I want the power to back up its sleekness. Plus, I'd rather spend the $4k outright rather than start over with new car payments.
So, I've done a little research and decided the Hi-Boost turbo kit is the right one for me.
My questions to you Turbo P5 owners:
How will this kit affect the car's everyday driveability? I mean, I don't want a temperemantel little car I need to baby everyday. I need the car to remain as reliable as it is. So besides the need for premium fuel and sythetic oil, what else do I need to be aware of?
Will car pass California emissions testing?
How will it affect the car's gas mileage?
Do I have to let the engine idle for a minute before shutdown to avoid turbo meltdown?
How long will these turbochargers last?
Hi-Boost says 200 hp to front wheels? This true on 6 Psi of boost?
Will boost hurt the engine when it's still cold?
Will there be additional maintenance?
Will the stock clutch handle the added power?
Will the stock tranny handle it as well?
Finally, does anybody know of good reliable installers of the HI-Boost kit in southern California? Specifically, south Orange County, CA?
Thanks in advance to everyone that responds.
