hi guys..
i just picked up my new cx-9.. the salesperson told me that the 3rd row gets A/C from the 2nd row under seat vents. So far, i've only been able to get the heat to come thru those vents.
does anyone know how or even if the 3rd row gets A/C?
thanks

Point the rear console vents up over the middle seat. Works just fine.

Maybe he was talking about the 2010, which has a rear mode control now.

Sorry to hear that, dude.
If you have not filled out your customer service satisfaction survey yet, you can tell them you're not happy with the misleading info and that they survey will reflect it.
This may not do anything, but some dealerships take that survey so seriously, they might offer you some kind of "consideration: -- I have no idea what, but you've got nothing to lose.

I'm not blaming you, but this is a good reminder to us all of THE No. 1 rule in buying a car:
Never, ever take the salesperson's word for anything that you cannot either A. see absolutely for yourself, and/or B. get from him in writing (better yet, from his manager).
I'm not even saying this because they lie. Most don't, intentionally, at least. But they sell so many models with so many different features that they can't always keep the stuff straight.
Some also do their homework a lot better than others.
But they all have just one goal -- to sell you the car. So if you ask about something that you seem to care about, and they are not sure of the answer, the bias is for them to say "yes" to keep you moving toward the purchase, or to keep signing the paperwork.

true that - as interested buyers of a particular model, you as a potential buyer, will often go in to the potential sale with better knowledge of the car and its specifications than a salesperson...i too have witnessed those situations many a times...

I must have gotten lucky with my sales guy. He knew the 9 inside and out. I caught him on a couple of things I had read up on before test driving it, but for the most part his knowledge was helpful.

The first time we went to look at CX9s the salesman knew EVERYTHING. he even put his hand in the window and rolled it up to show how it will stop.

We ended up going with our local dealer though, because that salesman was the only one who tried to find what we wanted.

Sportowner's suggestion works well.
However, what your salesman told you was partly true. In Auto mode, only heat comes out of the vent beneath the 2nd row seat (by design). In non-auto mode, however, it is not so.
