Has anyone experienced hesistation after the ecu flash. In my case it took a few months and all of a sudden it is hesistating as of today in third gear.

i got flashed hmm in early October I guess - no probs so far other than my slow coolant leak that appeared a few weeks ago....... I have heard some people complain that the prob returned - good luck -

Was there a noticable change after the flash?

I have noticed a gradual increase in bucking and surrging since the weather went cold here. I got the flash in September and it was fine for awhile, increase in mileage, drivability etc. My gas mileage went from 330 to 260 on the past four tanks. My car is set to go back to the dealer this week.

I'm noticing a bit of hesitation under moderate acceleration. Nothing like it was before the flash, but a bit annoying.

Vega, keep us posted on what the dealer says about your car. I'm curious on how they deal with it.

I don't really have the hesititation anymore. But its really obvious when the car goes into open loop operation. It's like kick. Almost vtec like.

I've got hesitation after my flash. I noticed right after the flash that the turbo was spooling up quite a bit faster then previously. However, now I have some bucking and a bit of hesitation. Anyhelp on this matter would be great. Anyone install the ION intercooler yet? Sorry, not trying to threadjack?

My car still drives like s*** after two flashes and 11k miles on her...Check out all the threads by me to see what I'm talking about...

It is not as much but I STILL get hesitation even under moderate acceleration...just enough to annoy the crap out of me! I am not talking about slight hiccups either...I'm talking about unpredictable jolts in acceleration all along the rev ranges.

Well so much for mazdas great fix!
sounds like another clunk battle is coming.

Yup, I still get hesitation too and like FunnyLittleMan I was getting it immediately after the flash even. I will say that the MAD, INSANE hesitation seems to be fixed though as far as I can tell (in this cold weather - have to wait till summer to be sure) -- now it's just very brief unpredictable spots of hesitation here and there. The stutter/hiccup seems to be happening about the same frequency as before the flash for me -- I can almost always get it to stutter by taking a 90 degree turn in 3rd or 4th gear and just accelerating 1/2 throttle. Not cool. Only the Lord knows why Mazda is incapable of fixing it completely.:(

funny this topic should pop up today. About 2 or 3 days ago, my hesitation has come back big time. There was nothing leading up to it. All of a sudden I was hesitating. Think it has something to do with the weather? It's been storming here for days now.

I just don't understand why Mazda can't correct the A/F ratio?!? I'm not talking a 13:1 a/f or something, but atleast a 12:1 to still be safe.

Guys,

the surges/hiccups are caused by the inadequate vacuum source to the wastegate actuator. If you run a dedicated line to the wastegate actuator the surges/hiccups go away that occure opon release of the throttle

where the original vac line runs from the manifold, but the BPV is also on that line. So you'll need to find a line you can tap in for the BPV...and use the original source for the wastegate actuator

Didn't affect the hiccup/stumble in my car at all when I did this.
