has anybody tried and/or discovered and "official" way to remove the rear seats in a 3 sedan? bench seems easy enough i suppose, but what about the 60/40 backs?

just a thought....

what do you mean "official"? just get in there and start removing bolts

I've done it on numerous occasions. Instead of taking the two seats apart, simply take them out as one unit, it can be kind of hard to remove any of the bolts without going through the trunk so I suggest cleaning it out, and getting to work. The noise, if you've gone I/E so far will be almost unbearable inside, but it's well worth it. The is a significant notice in the weight loss, or atleast that's what my ass is telling me. It can sound a bit rickety though, since I didn't feel like removing the seat belts and all. I just zip tied them all secure like and left the locks on the bolted in to the sheet metal. all in all I think it's about 6 - 10 total bolts that need to be removed. I also suggest getting a buddy to help carry out the 60/40 seat b/c I nearly scuffed my car trying to pull them out, they tend to fall all awkwardly if you're on your own. Just be careful and remember where each bolt goes. I put the bolts back in their respective places as to not lose them or forget which goes where.

thanks man....

I/E??? i am assuming that in one way or another, it means with the seat in- while running intake/exhuast???

i am a bit nervous about the whole creeky windfest going on back there, but i'll give it a shot, so long as its easy enough to reverse..

NOmz3....

you feel that the wieght reduction really makes it worth while on the performance?

i did it last night but have yet to drive it.... it look a little racey, i guess... but mostly like ass....

...but if it works, it works.

I've noticed a difference in my 1/4th times drastically. With them in I was running almost a second slower that with them out, but that also could have been that it was my first time on the track. I've kept mine out so far, and no harm to the car, only problem is that I can't get the buckles to the seatbealts out and they make crazy noise when on the interstate. I'm in the process of getting the seats weighed, just by feel I'd say they are atleast 30lbs, maybe more. And with my fullsized spare, jack and tools I'd say i've shaved out more than 50lbs. being that my full size weighs aprox. 28 lbs. HEAVY ASS WHEELS.
