Let me know what you guys think.

That looks sweeeeet bro. I just recieved my Ground Control Coilovers Thursday. I will be putting them on Monday and I have to say I'm itching to see what it looks like in person when it's slammed all the way. Your car looks slammin in the pics but I bet it will look better in person to see it dropped that low. I woll find out Monday. I'm taking it all the way down :D

I think you have a kickarse garage there! :D

Thats a Mazda Garage. He's a mazda master tech, hence the screen name. I wish I had enough money to have a garage like that though.:D

I'm installing mine tommorro and I'd like to know how far can u drop it without worring about rubbing the tire under the fender well. I want to drop it as far as it will go without rubbing. If there are some tricks to dropping it allllll the way down and not having to worry about rubbing please let me know

i've been debating whether to go with the coilovers or just get another set of struts/springs...but just a question of the coilovers...how hard are they to adjust?? i do like the ability to adjust them as you need though...

i was wondering if the ground control coilovers were MP3 specific or if they were just made for the standard Protege? also should you get an alignment done every time you raise or lower the car or is it a one time deal?

Your mom
I think he does have the bump stops in the rear, you just can't see them in that pic because it's too much of a close up. I think that the spring for the MP3, P5 and ES are the same. Not a huge difference in curb weight. About the alignment issue, after the install, an alignment should be done. But, it all depends on if you want to spend the money and time re-aligning every time you raise and lower your car after that. From my personal experience, I saw it as a waste of time and money to keep getting alignments, I was always playing with the height on my previous cars and had no major tire wear on either car. Others will say "yes", have one done every single time, so it's entirely upto you bro. You can find some addition information on Ingalls website, they give a nice little run down of what to expect when lowering your car and also had camber kits for the Protege.

They're very simple to adjust, it takes about 30-45 minutes to adjust the height precisely. After the initial install, depending on if it was done by a shop, the height should be perfect at each corner. From there, you can just count the rings as you lower it and make sure it matches each side front and rear.

Hope I helped a little.:)

I see he has the bump stops, but there should also be a metal piece around the bump stops. Also, he does not have the top rubber cushions that go under the upper mount. I am just wondering so I do it right when I install my coilovers next week.

In the coil over kit there is instructions on what you cut (bumpstops), what you reuse, and what you do not use. The installation is pretty straight forward. I do have to say though, if you have a P5, when you have to take off the rear you have to take apart a lot of the interior to get to the top of the rear struts (rear moldings, seatbelt brackets, etc.). But when its done you will be very happy especially if you did it yourself!

Note: You will need a spring compressor for the install. (Incase you didn't know!):D

if you align the suspension with the coilovers in the middle(or close to normal ride heighth) raising them up and down from the point should keep the alignment close to proper.
just something to think about.
1.5" either way is a lot though

1.5", 1.5"... U should not get coilovers if u are only gonna drop it 1.5 inches. That's the way I see it. Coilovers are meant to be on a car that is gonna be slammed to the ground. Forget that 1.5 inches crap. I'm taking mine down to 2.0" or 2.5" . If u are only gonna do that 1.5" crap u should just buy drop springs
That's my 2 cents

um, it'd be 1.5" up from the center and 1.5" down from the center buddy. the gc give ya a 3" drop(almost positive)
yes, getting adjustable coilovers that only dropped 1.5" would be a waste.

i'm was saying that if you align them while they are set to the center, the alignment won't change much when you drop it, or raise it from that point.

I try to help as much as I can. Thanks for noticing and I too wish I could help you guys save some money when buying parts. But, seeing as how what I like is usually out my price range, I'm sure it probably won't save anyone any money.:D

Sorry I did not have a chance to get back to you on this. I was out of town. I keep the springs all the way up, but I think that you could go half way and be safe. I do know for a fact that you can't turn real well with them all the way down.

OOh and one other thing, when and if you do this to your car get a alignment. PLEASE do not do as I have done. Now I need new tires, for the rear.
