dont know how to fix though, sorry

P1569 Variable tamble control system (VTCS) solenoid valve circuit low input

P0660 VICS solenoid valve circuit malfunction

I'm guessing you forgot to plug the solenoids back in that are on top of the old manifold.

just plug them in do they need vac.

No, the solenoids draw vacuum, but you don't have to have the hoses hooked up to them - they just need to be plugged in to the electrical connectors or you're gonna throw a CEL.

I am getting the same code. But it is intermittent. The code will be there today but in a couple days it will be gone. I already tried making sure they were plugged in properly. Does that mean that the solenoid could be bad? How much are those things anyway? Mazdas use those on almost all of their cars. Millenia's had like 6 or seven.

First thing you should check is the connector contacts (both on the harness end and the solenoid end), mine are really dirty and corroded. Spray some contact cleaner on both ends and connect/disconnect it a few times.

If that doesn't work, put an ohm meter across the solenoid's terminals and make sure that you get a reading of about 30-40 ohms, if not the solenoid might be fried. That's what happened to me; the solenoid costs $72 (Canadian) from Mazda (I counldn't find it anywhere else).

You could also test the wiring leading up to the solenoid. To do this the car should be cold; turn the key all the way in the ignition to the end (the engine doesn't need to be started) and measure the voltage coming off the wiring harness for the solenoid, it should be the same as your battery.

Check the service manual for more details, there are more testing procedures in there if you really want to make sure.

Are you getting both codes? If so, I doubt both solenoids would've gone bad at the same time. Also, if it turns out you do need a new solenoid, call a junk yard before you spring for a new one, or check the for sale forum on here - that's where i got mine used when i had a P0660 code.
