Help with System Setup

Alright, I am new to the forums and everyday.

Soon I am most likely going to be the PROUD owner of a Mazda 3, or PREFERABLY a Mazda Speed 3.

Now, a sound system is a big thing that I would like in a new car. I am not talking 1 10" or 12", average s***. I'm talking OVER-THE-TOP. I have around 2600, possibly a couple hundred more to spend on a deck, subs, headers, tweeters, etc.

With these two cars setup's, what do you think could fit more subs, etc. in it, sound good, with hit room and stuff? Any suggestions? Also, if not to much trouble, could you list a setup with the car that you think would be better, not specific brands, just like 2 12"s, etc. Thanks for the help ahead of time. =]

You're in the wrong forum, man. This is for MS3 owners. Everyone here is looking to shave off a few pounds. The last thing they'll do is add a couple hundred pounds of stereo equipment.
Yeah, add the weight of a passenger to your hatch area, that'll improve handling and acceleration.

screw the subs, just settle for the bose system....

then take that $2600+ buy a new intake, FMIC, and the cobb AP

Wow! No help whatsoever here. This section is shared by the 3 and MS3, so it is NOT MS3 specific, but I think we just tend to post more.

Ask your question in the general audio section which is on the main forums page further down, above the detailing section. This is audio for any model/make and there are also sticky's for certain levels of audio system (ie. $1000 set-up), so check-em out.

JL Audio Slash v2 Series 1000/1v2 $1000 (sub amp)

JL Audio Slash v2 Series 450/4v2 $780 (highs amp)

JL Audio CS213RG-W3v3-2 $720 (dual 13" subs)

JL Audio TR570-CXi $140 (rear speakers)

JL Audio C5-650x $500 (front components)

Total: $3140.

You can drop the price by going with 12" subs and possibly a 500w amp instead of 1000 but if you want something over the top. JL Audio is the way to go.

Now that is help! What about HU? My personal favorite would be an Alpine, but depends if you want DVD, navigation, double DIN, fold-out, or just standard player. This will run you anywhere from $150 to $2000 alone, so that makes a huge dent in the budget. Also have to remember at least $200-$300 for wiring, distribution block, etc. with a system like this.

JL is great, wish I could afford the stuff.

Actually they split off the MS3 and regular three. There is a dedicated Regular 3 audio/electronics section. For whatever reason they didn't rename this section to just MS3 when they created the new one.
Of course, there are exactly zero posts in it, so I can see why it might not look promising.

If you want to save some space and money, JL makes a five channel amp as well, with four for stereo and a dedicated sub channel. It isn't on the power levels you are talking about but should drive a single 12 quite nicely in a car the size of ours. Unless of course you are one of those obnoxious turds who makes it impossible to carry on a conversation within a quarter mile of you, in which case I don't want to help you.

I did not know that. Thanks.

Edit: Actually I take that back. I checked again, and they ARE shared. Click on a 3 link in audio and it takes you here. They changed this about 1 month ago. All forums are separate except for audio and one other one, which are shared.

LOL! Agreed!

Also Weeds, what do you mean by "headers"? I assume we are not talking about exhaust here.

Re: JL 5 channel.
I skipped past that option since he wanted dual 12"s or better. The 5ch amp doesn't put out head turning power.

Re: Head unit.
I knew I forgot sumpthin.

That explains why it looked empty.

That all is nice but from experience thats to much power for mazdas little alternator... I have a HiFonics Brutus 1200d and a kicker 320w... with 2 MA audio 12" pro subs... from my last vehicle, that I can't use because the mazda alternator is not strong enough to deal with the power.. so unless they have come out with a fix, so you can put in a Hi output alternator without messing up the cars computer.. you might want to try something smaller..

Who told you you couldn't use that equipment?

I've been running a similar amount of power in my car for 3 years now with no issues. Just upgraded battery and big 3.

I just realized my audio equipment isn't in my sig..

Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS
eDi 6500's front comps running off Soundstream D200II amp for 100+ watts per channel.
NO REAR SPEAKERS
eD 13Ov2 in 1.2 cu ft sealed box running off eD Nine.1 amp at final 2 ohm load for around 900+ watts output to the sub.
Optima Yellow top Battery, still going strong after 4 years
Big3 done in 2 ga.
