Help with Rims for 02 LX

Hi all,

I'm brand new here so I tried in vain to find the answer to my question by searching this forum and using the net first.

I'm trying to buy used rims/tires on Craiglist, but am having trouble figuring out what would fit. If I had the 5 bolt P5 it would be easy to get the OEM rims, but I'm stuck with 4 bolt. Damn.

I'm looking for either 15inch/16inch rims since I have winter tires on steelies(195/55/15), and can get a great deal on used rims/tires online.

I know I need 4 bolt pattern/100mm I think, but I think that means 114 won't work. I'm not sure what offset I need though.

I also know that I'm stuck with drum brakes in the back, and discs in the front, and am not sure how that might affect mounting a rim?

I found one set I like online, the specs are 16inch Advanti alloy, 4 boltx100, offset=40, with summer Kumho tires 205/45/ZR16. I understand these tires are wider than my current ones, with a smaller aspect ratio. I'm not sure if their are more stats that I would need to get from the owner to find out if they would fit?

Any help from the Protege community would be appreciated, especially anyone with the LX with the 4 bolts.

Thanks(drive)

It looks like other people frequently use a 16inch/205/45/16 rim/tire
package on their proteges on this forum. Does that mean its safe
to try this on the LX model, with the rear drum brakes? I'm assuming it
is but am buying used so I don't want to find out things the hard way.

Those will work. Im currently running the same exact setup on my dx. I think i'll move up to a 205/50/16 tire when these wear out to see how it fills in the fender gap.

Those are taller than the correct 195/50/16 or 205/45/16s so your speedometer and odometer will not be accurate.

I do a lot of spirited driving through backroads so the spedo being off isnt an issue. It'll only be off by like 2 or 3 mph anyways.
