Not in this case though, that wing is a bit expensive, but i still have the stock one. and im not gonna get rid of it, i think i adds an agresive look to the car, and it does help with the awesome handeling that the car already has, I respect all your comments and understand where you are coming from... Thanks!

The MSP wing you took off costs around 290 dollars unpainted. So at least another 50 bucks, at minimum. You are telling me that you paid MORE than 340 for that thing?

(hand)

The money people will spend on carbon fiber "stuff" amazes me.

You cant be serious. I mean lots of people would call a crap ton of drag, and increased front end lift an improvement to, right before they get in there primer colored 92 Accords, and go live their lives a quarter mile at a time.

(rofl2)

If you believe that, I have a 50hp sticker I should sell you...

seriously, its a FWD car, youre adding tons of drag to the REAR of the car which ultimately leads to front end lift... please tell me how thats accomplishing anything positive.

its your car and your choice... you can love it, just dont get on here and tell us it actually improves handling... THATS just stupid...

that wing is the equivalent of a parachute...

Ok ok I think that he got it doesn't help with handling. I'm still not sold on it though. Wingless FTW!

sorry if everyone here is bashing you on it...cant say I like the wing, but it is your choice, and Ill respect that...and to explain a little nicer than just laughing at you for it, a wing is only useful on a rear wheel drive car. This is because the downforce of the wing is supposed to give you more traction on your drive tires. The amount it helps really (I wouldnt think) isnt that noticeable, especially in the case of that wing. That wing is all looks...the only kind of rear spoiler that might actually do some noticeable good would be like they do on nascar stockcars (where it comes straight off the trunk at a bit of an angle) or when you get a spoiler thats actually designed to do some good (like on F1 cars)...other than that it doesnt really do anything...hope this helps

and once again, sorry man for the rude welcome

but for what its worth welcome to the mazda forums!

[FONT=&quot]This is not completely accurate. The 03 wing was actually designed in a wind tunnel for the Street Protg (or whatever that thing was called I forget) which was turbo charged, had a front mount and some other stuff.
It was the prototype for the MP3 which of course evolved into the MSP.
The wing can also add just enough downforce to help the rearend stay planted at speed and not necessarily aid in cornering
You can look it up if you bored enough to do so. The Arlington dealer had the internal Mazda magazine article posted on the wall of the service center long, long ago.
But I whole heartly agree with your assertation of his GIGANTO TARD WING.

Thanks buddy that was really helpful, and dont worry about anyone else, is alright, i was expecting it, I knoe owners of mazdaspeeds are very into traditional, conventional, but with what you told me, you are not just saying, is a piece of crap, but you are actually helping in making me understand why is it that you think the way you think, and it actually make sense, Thanks!

hey juancarloszx9,
so where is your stock wing now? just wondering...i might be interested in buying it later when i save up enough money...

yea

by no means am I an expert on spoilers...so yea, my bad on the stock spoiler (but I dont recall ever saying the stock wasnt usefull)

but really, is the gain from the stock spoiler that noticeable? at least, on a completely performance-wise stock MSP?

I think there is only two cars that could pull off that look on this forum. I'm figuring Pirana and the fella with the spicy that looked time attack ready(can't remember the forum name).

The spoiler has to help somehow, I dont mean mine, but the stock one, otherwise they would've not put it in the first place, mine is lighter than the stock one though... at least when you carry both mine feels lighter, i think is 7 pounds, but am not sure

your car bro. if you like it, keep it on. msp owners are VERY TRADITIONAL. if your into the whole custom scene, do it. that wing deff sets you apart from the rest of the msp owners. i personally dont think it goes well with the body lines. maby, if you can lower it alot so its not so out there, it could possibly work.
