Help with Key

Okay so when I bought my car I got only one key.. The key that I got was the valet key, just to open doors and start the engine..

I know that our cars come with an advanced keyless entry and start system.. I

I called the dealership and they had no idea what I was even talking about. What should I ask for when I call them again?

Maybe they call it a key fob?
If they seriously couldn't figure out what you meant by "keyless entry" then I'd find a new dealership. They're either very lazy or very stupid.

I was given a little aluminum tag with numbers on it with my fob (keyless entry card with the valet key stuffed inside), and was told I would need that number to replace it in case of damage etc. I have no idea if there's another way for them to find a replacement for you...other than maybe replacing the receiver unit too.

it is an option on the car. the ignition would be different. unless the car came with black plug that goes over it, you may not have it.

Well the only dealership told me that it would be about $300 total for the unit and key and everything.. Then the actual MAZDASPEED dealer had no idea what I was even talking about.. The owners manual has the key in there so I'm assuming that you should be able to get it no problems..

I'm going on Tuesday to get it serviced so I guess I'll just ask them then..

Mine has the black buttons you speak of so again I'm assuming that I can get the advanced key..

nope. if you dont have the black buttons on the door you wont be able to have the advanced key system.

to the OP you can always buy a key fob from ebay. just make sure its not a cx-7/cx-9 key, then just have the dealer program it, its like $90. as long as you have 1 working key they can program it the key fob.
