Mazda Familia SP20 1999
Hi, I have just brought a 1999 Familia SP20 (Japanese Import).
I am wanting to change out the front speakers incl tweeters and am after srue fire tips to safely remove the front door paneks to access them. Have scratched many a door panel on other vehs before so wanna do this right!

Dont forget if you have manual windows, there is a horseshoe shaped clip holding the crank on that will keep you from getting the panel off. When i took mine off, i took a flathead and pushed it off the crank and it came right off. Although im not quite sure what to do if you have power windows though...

cheers for the tips... (first) we have right hand drive (on the left side of the road) down here but shouldn't be an issue. one question though, mine has factory tweeters and the model in the pics didn't. is this an issue?

nope. those panels should still pop right out.

Cool thanks for that.

I have also being reading some forums about disregarding your rear speakers when upgrading your system.
I have just installed a Panasonic CD head unit and have a Alpine V12 MRV-T407 amp sitting in a drawer! I want to install the amp soon but am not sure if it will damage the factory speakers.

I intend to get some components for the front as well but in reference to the rear speakers, should i spend more money on some aftermarket rears and maybe another amp, or just use the stock ones powered off the head unit?

I am new to the car audio thing and am after the cheapest (but still efficient) solution as i have 2 other very exspensive hobbies... skydiving and a 2 year old son!

I would replace those rears. you are going blow them out sooner or later anyway. They dont have to be expensive, either. Just get some 30-50 dollar pioneers, they're cheap and sound decent

Yeah... i got new speakers in the front and now the difference is really obvious... time to upgrade the rear speakers, and i am also after a cheap solution (poor college student).

Chairs for the tips guys, will def get the front components and as my amp is only 1/2 channel, I might just use that to run the fronts and run the rears off the HU.
