my lsd broke reading other threads sounds like my problem
took it to my dealer, and they said they've never heard of this problem

does anyone have a tsb i can show them?

has anyone elses dealer refused to fix a broken LSD?

if so, where did you go from there?

On what grounds did they refuse it? There's no recall or TSB on that, but if you're under warranty and essentially stock, then you're good to go.

I just got my MSP 3 weeks ago.

How will I know when the lsd breaks. Is this something that's very apparent, or something I need to listen and test for?

From reading other conversations in this forum, I got the impression that Mazda updated their LSD in later production. Can anyone confirm this? And how can I find out if my MSP has an updated (or stronger) LSD?

The dealership can run your VIN and see all the work done to it.

Mine pulled the same thing on me over the phone...at first. When I had the car towed up there I had some informative "brochures" in the front seat consisting of clear pictures others had posted on the forum showing their LSD's in two pieces. All of them break basiscally in the same place(s). I also had a few pages printed from various threads about the broken diff's, pics of a welded diff from TurfBurn's thread, and finally also printed JDM Sam's "broken lsd registry" list.

They called to tell me that yes they had indeed seen this before and yes it would be taken care of under warranty. I even had them take the replacement diff to a welder in that city (no Mazda dealer w/in 2 hours of me) along with the pics of the welded diff so they would know what to do. I had to agree to waive the remainder of my tranny warranty, and I paid the welder separately by credit card. The dealer picked it up and plopped it in as the new replacement, sans warranty. Of course, it's made a fairly loud roaring/ringing noise ever since and I can't do s*** about it. Most likely the new LSD is slightly out of balance from the welds not being precisely the same size/weight.

Good luck. Don't give the dealer the option not to warranty it. But, be careful if you're thinking of having it welded. Might want to see if it can be rebalanced afterward.
