HELP! Tried two different stock amps, neither is working.

So a few weeks ago I noticed that I was no longer getting any bass from the trunk. I went and looked at the amp (stock kenwood) and noticed that the light wasn't on.

I checked the fuse on the amp and the fuse on the head unit (Sony deck, came on the car when I bought it) and both of them were good. I didn't change anything on the wiring and it had been working fine from when I bought the car (april 2010) up till now.

I decided that the amp was probably dead so I bought a stock amp from another msp, however I'm still having the same problem where the light on the amp is not lighting up. I made absolutely sure that I wired the replacement amp exactly the same as the one that came with my car, and the fuse in the new amp is good. I checked the ground wire for the sub/amp under the trunk carpet and it's fine too. In a last desperate attempt at fixing it, I rewired the entire radio harness because the previous owner left it looking like a rats nest. The amp STILL doesn't light up . I'm out of ideas here. Any suggestions guys?

Check the remote wire, it tells the amp to turn on. It connects to the amp from the H/U.

I did. It's the blue/white wire and it's connected properly at both ends. The thing is it used to work perfectly, and I didn't touch a damn thing before it decided to stop working...

i took my sub out my car for a trip and now the amp comes on every once in a while. i noticed my + battery terminal has plenty of acid powder so i'gonna change it and the battery to see if it helps

you may have something internal with the stock h/u. I changed h/u altogether and my sub works great now, of course I am on a 2nd factory replacement, but its been going strong for 5 years now.

I'm running a sony head unit though as stated in the first post.

:/ I'm gonna see what will happen if I jump a wire from the positive terminal to the remote terminal on the amp.

Nobody has said anything about the fuse under the hood on the power wire? just the fuse on the deck and amp? um, id check that first. If that fuse is blown which is more than likely then replace it. If not see if there's voltage at the power wire and ground wire at the amp. And if there is then check to see if there's voltage at the remote wire and ground when you turn the radio on.

Look at the power wire fuse by the battery under the hood. Mine did the same thing, and that fuse was blown.

this. 9 times out of 10 the fuse next to the battery is blown.

*immediately notice small inline-fuse box that I swear to god I've never seen before*
*replace fuse*
*amp lights up, now i have bass*

well my speaker wires weren't hooked up correctly. fixed.

Edit. The wires are right, but the Amp keeps cutting off and on. I'm guessing maybe its overheating.

I have the same problem of the light not turning on, I'm going to check the wires to see if they are getting power first, all fuses are good

lol, i changed that fuse and the amp fuse, still nothing, i have to make sure im getting the power
