Ok, I was drving home earlier today, and saw this dog flopping on the ground in the middle of the road, and i thought someone hit it. I got out and was looking at it, and it didnt look like it was hit, no blood, nothing bad. So I grab the dog and take to the sidewalk. It calms down, but tries to bite me. It is a golden lab but, it is a mix, with a couple different colors, but it is really skinny, and just looks like it was worked over by a pack of wolves.
There are no tags, nothing. I go around to the neigborhood its in, and ask if anyone knows whos dog it is. Nobody has a clue. So i pick the damn thing up, becuase it looks like it is about to die. And I take it to the emergency vet. I know most people would have let it die. But I guess i am to nice. The vet says that it is most likely a stray.
They did a bunch of tests and some other things. And it turned out that it wasent hit, it has something called Distemper. It causes a s*** load of problems, and is one of the worst things a dog can get. So i was like ok, how do we fix it. She said becuase he is so young, that it is likely he can survive. But it is expensive.
They gave him rabies shots and all that jazz, and gave me some anti-biotics for him. But she said this will only prolong the pain, and make him feel a little better. The thing is, this dog is awesome. Once I brought it home, it was just perfect. He was so kind, and loving, and licking everybody. I felt really bad that I will most likely have to let it die, or be put to sleep.
My GF called the pound, humane society, and a bunch of other places that might take him, and none of them want to take a sick dog, that most likely will die.
I told my GF i was going to have it put to sleep and she really got upset. But the thing is it is like 2300 dollar procedure, and I just paid my employees, and I do not need more financial stress. I want to save this dog but I dont think it will be possible.
So i started thinking about it. About a blog i went to the other day. Called save toby , where the guy was going to eat this bunny, if he didnt get a certain amount of donations. Well I decided I might start up something like that. But I find it to be corny and wrong. And i am not going to eat the dog. I want to save it.
So i think i am going to start a paypal account in his name. And I thought I would post this on all the forums I belong to , I know I can take care of about a grand, but it is so much, that it is hard for me to pay more. I know I sound like a ass, and pretty trite, to put somethings life in a dollar form, but i guess thats what it boils down too.
So if anyone would like to donate 1.00 or 2, I think i might try this and see how it goes. I feel weird doing it, but I figured, this isnt my dog, but I would like to see him go to a good home after he is fixed.I already shelled out 450 on all ths shots and antibiotics. So I am going to put a paypal address down below in my sig if anyone wants to donate. I figured there are over 15000 members, about 5000 regulars, maybe i can get about 500-1000 of them donate a dollar. And all let the forum name him.
If you guys think this is dumb of me to do this, and just let him die, then voice your ideas, and thoughts, and suggestions on what might be a better route.

WE MADE IT
Wow you guys are probably the kindest people, we did this literally in like 5 days, thats incredible. I am dumb founded and do not know what to say, but I think Milt will have a great life now, I went earlier and paid for everything, so they got him going , I am going to pick him up tomorrow. And then the people start coming over to see him. I will make sure to take some pictures of him with his new owners, when I find the proper home for him.
My sincere thank yous go out to all of you. Never thought that could actually happen here. But it just proves how great this forum is, and how great the people are. Yes it is a automobile forum, but it is as well a place to congregate when people are feeling down, and when someone , and in this case something is in need, we all pitch in and help.
I really dont know what to say, but thank you. With all the flame-wars and all the bashing of each other we all agree on one thing, and that is helping others. I am amazed.
Thank you once again. Watch for upcoming posts in this thread from me, with pictures and info, on what the status of this little guy is.
