From that list the Celica is the only one that Caught my eye. THose Celicas were pretty fast right? I would probly go for the Celica.

my buds got a celica gt and i smoke him every time, it is an auto though. there alright for a chick. they are nice inside if you get the lether.

I would go for the Mazda 3 (keep it in the family- I have a MS3 as well and my g/f wants to trade her Cobalt for a MZ3 really bad- :-D). If you're wanting performance for the wifey, then go for the RSX. The VW is kinda nice, but after working there, I wouldnt ever buy one without a warranty.

If she wants a performance car, the RXS or the Celica, if not the mz3. Can't really go wrong with any of them.

rsx ftw

skip the celica, they're slow, I beat one in an stock auto 2.0 non vtec 4dr accord (40 mph roll)
another mazda -eh, I can't even call myself a mazda guy I'm an MS3 guy so I think another mazda would get boring
1.8t might be interesting, but I've head of too many problems
no comments on the eclipse

is she looking for a performance car or just a nice ride?

Celica is only good if its a gt-s manual (you have to rev the piss out of it though) The jetta 1.8 t is a nice car. its alot faster than you would think. Friend has one and its a nice car.

Rsx is probably one of the nicest cars on that list plus being the fastest but only if its an rsx-s.

As for the eclipse they've always felt cheaply made to me. As time goes by they get better and better. I will admit for aftermarket you can make them fast as ballz.

I had my RSX for 4.5 years until I bought the MS3.

When I bought it back in 2002, my shopping list included GTI, Celica GTS, and WRX. I'd choose it again. It's definitely a fun car to drive + cool hatchback practicality without looking like a wagon. It had the best shifter I'd ever worked with that probably none can surpass other than the S2000 shifter.
