help me shifter popping out of gear!!!

I dropped my car off at Mazda Tuesday with the complaint of it popping out of second gear.

They found a failed motor mount (fluid leaking out) and replaced it. It is still popping out of gear so I dropped it off again today.

It sounds like they are going to rebuild my transmission.

I have owned about 4 or 5 manual vehicles and have never had an issue so I don't feel my driving is the cause. It seems like the "second gear grind" just gradually got worse over time.

My transmission has 87,000km (54,375mi)on it just for reference.

my tranny has 14500 kms on it and the put new synchros in it but then they found another problem with my shifter linkageand now they are having a problem with the shifter box. idk what the dealer is doing or what kind of idiot they have working for them but its been three weeks so far im already considering trading it in for a different car.

My car did the exact same thing, "popping out of gear in second", and i took it to the dealers and they had to replace the synchros as well. And ever since its been fine, I had my intake on and TRZ motor mount on and they did the work with no complaints. I think my car also had about 15000 miles on it

Fluid leaking out of a motor mount?

Do you have an aftermarket intake? If so, shift into second with the car off and pop the hood. Look down were the shifter linkage is (if you don't know where it is have a friend shift into and out of gear so you can see what parts are moving). There is a long weight bolted to the end of the linkage for counter balance. With the car shifted into second, make sure that this weight isn't hitting anything.

You can also adjust the shifter..there is a video posted somewhere (I think in the short shift plate thread) that shows how to do this.

Still though..the fluid leaking out of the motor mount doesn't make any sense to me, unless I am completely not thinking of the right parts.

reading through this has opened my eyes. never knew a car just "pops" outta gear haha. As for grinding... you just need to get used to the car and slow down on the clutch for now.

Car is at Mazda. I should have it back by the middle of June. The shop manager is doing the tear down and ordering new parts, then he is going to LA to visit family. When he gets back, he will be putting it back together.

He hasn't opened the tranny yet, but he says he is likely going to rebuild 2nd gear and install all new synchro's while he's in there.

My shifter assembly is not rubbing on anything. This was the first thing I checked, both with and without my TWM SS installed.

I picked up my ACT street clutch kit from JB's Power Center and dropped it off at Mazda. He is going to install it for free since he will be in there anyways.
