Help Me Decide: CX-5 vs. CR-V

I'm not talking pedal distance; my legs are plenty long enough to reach the pedals. I am just curious if I can shorten the distance I have to push the pedal to get activation of the brakes.

Unless you tinker the brakes or the relevant module, then no

The CRV measurement between wheel wells is just less than 42". And measurement from from very back of carpet in rear to front seat back is 70".
I just measured the '17 CX5 and those same measurements are 41" and 69".
CX5 has more width room above the wheel wells. Height is obviously more on the CRV.
Actual usable space is probably about the same unless you stack small boxes all the way to the ceiling frequently.

There is not much in it

He put his brand new lawnmower in the back of our station wagon when I was a kid. Took off from a stop sign. It rolled backwards and the handle smashed out the rear window.

Well that won't happen with my mower and the CX-5. Only way it will fit inside is to put it sideways with the handle in the folded position. I also cover the handles with a thick blanket so if it does move around, the sharp points of the handle are protected.

Brakes are definitely different than previous model. I only know because I almost rolled through a few stop signs the first couple of days of driving.
Now that I'm used to it, no problem. But it does have a longer travel.

My guess it is the same distance travel like it is in my 6 (scratch)

Really didn't notice much difference on the test drive.

Whoops. "Chock", not "chalk". Lol.

Hence me asking my question!

Cx5 cargo area looks better to the eye and on the stats. Significantly.

It is, my dad has one and the space in the back is cavernous. He keeps a collapsed wheel chair for my mom and can fit grocery bags without putting them on top of the wheel chair. Not happening in the CX5

I'd look at the pedigree. Just like when buying an expensive dog.
See the cx5s direct ancestor is the MX5; thus the similarity in the name. It comes from a family of performance cars such as RX (7) and Cosmos. The CRV ancestor is a civic wagon and a prelude. Thus the cx5 is the sport coupe of the cuvs while the crv is the econobox of the cuvs.

When i get to a computer I'll show you guys the pedigree first hand.

I saw an old Civic in a parking lot just today. My God that was hideous. I was like "who bought those?". The same people who buy CRVs today. 😁

I'm not a big fan of wagons in general due to their look (apologies to the Mazda 6 wagon owner), but that Civic is doubly ugly.

No need to apologize. I know I'm in the minority being a wagon lover. I even agree about that Civic wagon being fugly.

Traded my wagon in for my 5. Eyed the 3 wagon...just too small. 6 might have had me.

The Audi is nice. I prefer the Volvo though. Love the Volvo tail lights.

No...the CR-V's look Volvo-esque. 😀
