I'm not a big fan of wagons in general due to their look (apologies to the Mazda 6 wagon owner), but that Civic is doubly ugly.

The 6 wagon actually looks nice

This is from a few hours ago. MX5 heritage (my CX5, AWD). Do not try this with stock suspension and probably harder with stock ECU tune.

Crv totally bit volvo circa 07..not saying i hate the volv..i generally dislike audi, think the allroad is egregiously overpriced but it does look good

You can get a nicely equipped allroad for $50K. Not out of line with what volvo charges or mb I wouldn't think.

V60 starts at $36. V90 @ $49. I don't like them that much.

I like v60 but its still low 40s for awd with the goodies
Cx5 aka mazdarati ftw
Something about that dirty allroad...kinda wanna smack it a lil

The Audi is nice. I prefer the Volvo though. Love the Volvo tail lights.

I hate to say it 7, but that looks like a vertically challenged minivan.

I am 57 yrs old and have driven/owned Hondas / Acuras since I was 24. This year was my first entry into a Mazda. I too was comparing between the CX-5 and the CR-V. In my case it was GT and Touring, respectively. After test driving them both, the choice was clear. I hated the CVT transmission in the CR-V, how it felt, how it responded, how it sounded. And as for looks, there is simply no comparison, in my opinion. The CX-5 is way more stylish to me, and has a much better looking design and look. They're both good vehicles, and you cannot go wrong with either. But for me it was the transmission, how the drive felt, and the design that sold me on a 2017 Mazda CX-5.

CVT's and DSG's are my bug bear. These alone put me off vehicles that come with them.

Glad Mazda have stuck with their type of auto transmissions

Agreed. I leased a '16 Accord for my cousin, and while it is a good-looking car and nice to drive around if you really stomp on it the CVT just roars and not much else. One of the many reasons I chose to forego the CR-V.

They also don't drop the revs for quite a while after stomping

That's a "feature". Same as the cx5 with sport mode, no? Except it never drops.

I know it is a feature

It may not drop down all the way but unlike a CVT, it doesn't stay whirring constantly

And none of this even happens when you are in normal mode.

Mine actually holds the gear for 5 seconds or so. It's really nice actually for rush hour when you may get on/off the throttle rapidly moving through traffic.

Fair enough

I got bored. The information listed on the NHTSA website is interesting to compare. Especially when you go back and look at previous model years. Mazda seems to be a lot more proactive about communicating potential issues out of an abundance of caution compared to Honda. The number of complaints for the 2015 model year for either vehicle make Honda look rather arrogant compared to Mazda which has significantly fewer complaints but a hell of a lot more manufacturer communications. Not much out for the 2017 CX-5 yet after a month on the market. 2017 CR-V has been out for about 6-7 months and has 21 complaints so far. The complaint where the car locked a child in the vehicle without the AC running was one of the most alarming ones that I read. No car is perfect, but it is a good idea to be aware of some of the potential issues with a vehicle before purchase.

In a few weeks I am replacing my Inifiniti with the 2017 CX-5 GT.
