okay, i installed it just now without a hitch or problem...

but

now my carbon fiber hood wont remain propped up! it did when i first put them on. i pushed down to close them, it went down fine, closed fine, re-popped the hood, it lifted fine (not by itself, i needed to push it up) and i let go to let it stay, but it just closed. so i tried again and again. nothing.

so any help from the ppl who installed them on their stock hoods would be great :)

thanks!

Why don't you Pm dex insted of starting a thread. Very few people have this kit right now.

is it full CF or is there a fiberglass underlay to it? i am guessing some of the CF hoods weigh differently.

send a PM to dexter ASAP as i know he will want to address this issue

okay, thanks guys. sorry, i figure the guys who have it on their stock hoods can put some input?

ill pm him though

thanks again

i have the vis evo c/f hood with alot of it painted and mine stay up... what kind of hood do you have? i have to lift very gently to get it to come up but once it is open it stays until you push it down... i am sure dexter will have the best answer though.

thanks joka :)
i got the vis cf oem hood. i think i installed something incorrect, but i dont think itll cause a problem where the hood will not stay open.

i put the brace between the hood and the car bracket and not between the screws and the bracket of the car...

is supposed to be: hood - car bracket - prop brace - screws
i put: hood - prop brace - car bracket - screws

i usually have washers between the hood and bracket to lift the hood higher to match the body/fender of the car. I figure the prop brace is thick enough so i switched it with the washers, thus the reason for putting it there.

i wonder if that could be it.. but ill wait till he responds

peace

i dont see how that could cause it but i did put my bolt/strut brace/car hood brace/hood so i dont know
good luck

positioning of the bracket shouldnt matter.

try taking a prop off and see if you can compress it by hand, if you can and it doesnt take much force, the props are messed up. i noticed a bad one in my box so i didnt use it. if this is the case, let me know for sure so i can ship you two new props.

sorry for the trouble man.

naw no problem dex.

i asked my friends their opinions and all of them the rods must be bad. so i took them off and i could compress them with my hands. sorry for all of this trouble man, i know you are doing your best to meet everybodys needs.

just let me know how much i owe you for shipping or anything needed to be replaced.

thanks!

peace

it still wont stay up o.O

im very confused at this moment. i will try and mix and match and reinstalling everything. if everything fails, i will send back all 4 that u have sent me and i shall request if you could please send me the props/rods for a stock hood.

hey chris just had an idea, how are you installing the props?

the "barrel" part connects to the hood bracket and the skinny piston connects to the fender, have you installed it that way?

damn..oh man i dont know what to tell you...

this is weird. well, you got my PM, ill get back to you ASAP man.
