P2177 System too lean at idle, bank 1
P2187 System too lean at idle, bank 2

it seemed to pop these 2 codes up after i had my muffler taken off is is it my one of the 02 censers??? i thought it was from when i hit a puddle of water and i thought my air filter wet or somthin but then all day today it was dry out and it still does it.... heres what happens when i do a cold start it want to die then it automaticly corrects it self and then idles fine then i drive it and when i start to go it loses all power and starts popin and bangin like if i had a studder box lol... it dont always do it though most of the time it will run fine and then out of no ware it will start bogging..

I've had these before. You want to check you DP and make sure everything is on tight. 2187 for me was an exhaust leak right near the DP.

This may be the lean code that everyone is getting from the CAI. Thats the only other thing that i can think of. there are enough smart people on the forum besides me that could probably figure your situation out.

the car has 10500 miles and its had the intake on it since when it had 12 miles on the car.... but ive never herd of the intakes throwing codes... did the codes from the intake make it run like crap and stall on a cold start?

you said above that you drove thru water at one point and got the filter wet, do you think its possible that the MAF got wet and so the ecu is putting you car on limp mode or something and giving these CEL's?

i thought that to so i went and got electric cleaner and cleaned it... and its not always running like crap but when im at those low rpms it does...

Get your MAF checked out or replaced!!!

Seems thats the only thing that changed/was affected since before the problem...

Hey folks:

I am getting the CEL: P2187 System too lean at idle, bank 2. Dealer is stating my boost gauge caused the issue. So they disconnected it and it still threw the CEL. The dealer just called and mentioned there was some "new TSB" for a PCM reflash that is supposed to help with the lean at idle issue. I too wonder if its due to the MS CAI but its been on since 500 miles or so and and I'm at 8K now.

I'll see on the paperwork if the TSB number is listed and I'll let folks know.

ooh new flash for ms cai owners, please keep us updated. You should make a new thread about the results.

Well here is what was on my work order. I have been getting a P2187 Bank one lean at idle code. According to the dealer there was a TSB released last week (take it for what its worth) for the fix.

Here is what's on the work order:
Performed Bulletin 01-022/08 reprogrammed PCM as needed. I assume the bulletin number for the TSB is 01-022/08?

No idea is this is also for the CEL's that occur because of the MS CAI (mine has one). I have an 07 GT.

I was told that after the 3rd cold restart, if the CEL is to come back on at idle, it will then. So now its the waiting game to see if it comes back.

Hope this info helps folks.

ya i took it to the dealer and they updated the ecu and not even a mile from the dealer my light came back on and i was going in to limp mode.... again... im going to try putting on the stock intake and if it goes away im getting the cobb sri...
